**UPDATE**Less than 8 months on phone has developed some serious issues. Battery has some serious if not dangerous overheating isses - not just when charging but in normal use.The screen has become unreadable - looks like a very high contrastEven after factoryt reset the screen is unreadableSupplying company has become very ivasive.

Very good phone, camera is good but obviously not to Samsung or iPhone levels. Easy to use and set up and weight for a Chinese phone is good, feels well made big not a brick!! No regret from me in respect of this purchase.

Perfect Quality phone. Fast shipping. Large excellent screen with ecxellent colours. 4K videos are amazing but even 1080 is really good. This phone is really loud and it sounds unbelievable, really good experience. Also you can hear the bass is well. This phone's camera is decent, so you can make a great colorful pictures in day light and even a macro detailed photo is well. Package contains: Elephone S8, EU charger and a charger apropriate for your country, transparent case, USB cable, 3.5 jack adapter. Also it comes with a protecting film on the screen. I recommend this phone ;) if you want a reall good phone just buy it ;)

Two Weeks With the Elephone S8After an unfortunate accident with my old phone (an Xperia XA1) I needed something new, but didn't want to spend a fortune. It became clear that with the exception of the Moto line of phones, I wasn't going to get great value from the more traditional smartphone manufacturers so I decided to take a leap of faith and go with a Chinese manufacturer who I'd never really heard of.Having scoured YouTube and other reviews, it appeared the Elephone S8 would fit my needs. I wanted a near bezel-less screen, a decent camera, a fingerprint reader, decent performance, a good battery and a nice display. The S8 ticked all these boxes so I went ahead and ordered one.First impressions were good, the box was simple, but well put together. In the box an EU plug, a USB charging cable, a SIM removal tool, the phone, a 3.5mm to USB Type C adapter and as a bonus a basic case. The phone also came with a UK plug provided by the seller, this included with the delivery.The USB charging cable is of very high quality, if perhaps a few inches shorter than I'd have preferred. The case is a rubbery plastic design which is clear, it fits well and will probably suit my needs for a while. The 3.5mm/USB Type C adapter is required as the phone has no 3.5mm port, the adapter works well (sound quality still good and controls on the remote still function) so I'm not sure the lack of a port bothers me too greatly.The phone itself is immediately impressive. The build quality is fantastic and it feels very impressive in the hand. If this phone had Sony stamped on the back and cost £400, you wouldn't feel ripped off. A basic plastic screen protector is pre-applied, I still have this on, it's not the best quality but it was well fitted and offers the protection I'd want.Turning the phone on, it's a basic setup. It's been a while since I last setup an Android phone, but I'm sure this one jumped ahead a few steps meaning some manual config was required lated (nothing too big, but signing in to my google account was a start). Once booted, you can really start to appreciate the magnificent screen. Heading straight over to YouTube and looking for high quality video samples to test the screen in 1440p - it looked amazing. Coming from 1080p and 720p screens this 6" 1440p screen is a cut above. I had a 1440p screen with an LG G5 nearly two years ago, that screen was good, the Elephone S8's is so much better.Performance from the X25 is good, not great. It's not as good as a Snapdragon 8xx series you'll find in the latest flagships but it's very nippy at day to day activities and doesn't seem to stutter or lag with the basic games I play. However the phone can get quite warm with prolonged use - I've had this with most phones, but perhaps the S8 gets to this level a bit quicker than with previous phones.The camera is decent and performs well. I've seen reviews talk about the slow shutter speed, but this can be remedied by looking at the settings. Once I'd played around with these for a couple of minutes I was able to get very quick shots in. This isn't the best camera I've ever had on a smartphone (that title probably belongs to the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL) but for a Chinese phone, it can't be held against it when the cost difference is so great.Battery is disappointing. It's a large 4000mah battery, that even with the large impressive screen should perform better than it does. With light use (some music, some internet, a few whatsapp messages and checking email) it can go through a day easily. However, watching videos, playing games or being in an area with poor wifi/4g reception and trying to do anything gulps down the power extra fast. I've no doubt this is down to poor software optimisation but I don't believe this will be fixed......Software. The Android version is 7.1.1 - it's fairly untouched by Elephone and is the better for it, however it doesn't look like there will be much in the way of updates. This being the middle of February and the current software I'm running has a date stamp of 18/10/2017 - that's pretty poor. Hopefully it's because they're working on an Android 8.x update, but I'm not holding my breath.Despite what I read elsewhere, the phone doesn't come rooted. I've used Blackberry Work on the device without issue, knowing my company blocks rooted devices.I do love the S8, it's a great handset for a great price. The battery and heat issues are annoying but not show stoppers. Hopefully an update will address this, but even if not, it's not the end of the world. This phone is all about that screen and watching videos, reading books, browsing the web or doing a few emails is an utter pleasure. For the money, it's an amazing deal and I'm very happy I almost gave it 4 stars because of the battery, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it..
