Different from their other albums. The songs are more poppy and more on the soft rock and pop rock side compared to their other albums. But it’s still good and enjoyable.

Deep Shadows and Brilliant highlights explores various different topics of life. Love, lust, pain and tragedy, but manages to maintain a constant mantra of artistic depth. Ville valos lyrics and poetic tones go straight to your heart and the guitar solos in many of the songs remind you of the skill this band represent. Just beautiful. Songs like "Love you like I do", "please don't let it go" and "In Joy in Sorrow" are just plain beautiful. I don't understand why rock magazine journalist put this album down and give it bad reviews...I happen to find Deep Shadows and Brilliant highlights better then "Razorblade Romance". I like Razorblade Romance, but I love Deep Shadows and Brilliant highlights a million times more.This album just proves that the void Jim Morrison left when he died in 1971, has now filled up with Ville Valo. Ville is as poetic as you can get. A true poet.

Have you been properly introduced to H.I.M. yet? What are you waiting for?! This album, IMO, is the best album to get acquainted with their music. This album is kick a** from the door...not one bad song on it. This album solidified my commitment as now being forever a fan. You don't have to be GOTH to like this music. It is straight up melodic rock with catchy choruses and harmonies. The lyrics this guy writes will blow you mind. It captures you like nothing else could in music today. The sound of this band is what has been missing with the rock world for many years now. BUY IT PEOPLE!!

I love HIM to a point where they are my favorite band of all time. Ville's voice is so unique and beautiful and touches your heart unlike any other singer.

Recently, I ordered every HIM CD I did not have. All I had was Razorblade Romance and Dark Light. This is the first of the ones that I ordered, and I must say, this is an amazing album!It shows the deep and beautiful side of Ville's voice, and has slower songs. (which I love) It's a lot different than, say, Razorblade Romance. But, it's still a wonderful album. You might even get goosebumps from Ville's voice, I actually did on the last song. I definitly recommend this to ANY HIM FAN. A wonderful album, with wonderful structure.5/5|-| | /\/\

Came in perfect condition, factory sealed, very satisfied. One of my favorite albums, will be picking up more.
