Good beginner kit, although with the amount of magic rings I would rate it more a beginner+ kit. There are supplies for two crocheters (two hooks) and the materials are good quality and the hook has a comfortable handle grip. While there are enough eyes for only one pair of axolotl, there was plenty of yarn for a pair of each color (four total) for me. I have used the W****** brand kits, and I like that these instructions close off each round to make every row blend better (unlike the W kit where the rows are uneven) great for color changes (but this pattern doesn't have them). Good value for the price. Great gift for beginning crocheters.

I purchased the kit as a gift for my adult daughter. She used YouTube to start off and then learned to read the instructions. She's made several now and is mastering the basics. This kit is ideal for youngsters that show interested in learning the art of crocheting. The first one was a little rough. She has continued making these adorable axolotls and her work is becoming faster, better, and she's ready to tackle more patterns.The kit includes everything needed and the yarn will make more than shown. Perfect for travelling.

Ok, so I bought these because it said beginner-ish and that a child could do it. I wanted to learn on one so I could teach my kid. I'm struggling. Maybe it's just me, hard to say, but the directions are made for someone who knows how to crochet and even then, when I asked for help it took A LOT of trial and error for the experienced person to figure it out.

I bought this for one of my students that wanted to learn how to crochet and it was perfect! She picked it up really easily and was able to follow the instructions on Youtube. It came with everything she needed and was able to use the hooks after she was done to create something new.

I bought this kit for my 10 year old daughter because she wanted to learn to crochet and she loves axylottles. Though the packaging was very cute and the yarn and supplies are good quality, we have had trouble understanding the directions. We found them very difficult to follow. She has finally mastered one stitch by finding other youtube videos to teach her, but it took her so long she has lost interest in learning the other stitches. I wish the tutorials that came with the kit were easier to follow. I am hoping that once she finds videos that help her with the other stitches that she will come back to this.

Great kit. The kit was organized and everything was as described. The pattern is written as slip stitch/ch 1 but I did continuous rounds as that is what I prefer. Plenty of yarn left over. I would order from this company again.

This was really difficult to figure out. I originally thought this would be a fun project for my crafty 9 year old and I to tackle together. She gave up after looking at the directions. I tried to use the videos to get started, but that was way harder than we expected. Once I got the hang of what to do I had a really really hard time with the yarn and the size of the needle. I think maybe if you are experienced it might work ok, but this wasn't really beginner friendly.

Easy to follow instructions, came with everything you need to make a whale. Great price, I'll be making lots of these to sale. Fun and the yarn was great to work with.
