Great camera, Akaso stood behind their warranty
UPDATE: Akaso replaced the camera and I’ve received the new one. It works great and delivers awesome value given the competitive price vs GoPro. I’ve changed my rating back to 5 stars after receiving the replacement. Thank you!ORIGINAL POST: I bought this camera after doing a ton of research back in September. I bought it specifically for a family trip to the Galapagos in December to record snorkeling and other vacation activities. I used the camera a couple of times in Sep/Oct to get familiarized with the camera and everything was working ok. I packed the camera away and took it to Galapagos. When we arrived there the camera appeared to be dead. The charge indicator light would come on when plugged in but the screen goes blank when it is not connected to the charger. I'm a pretty tech savvy guy and know the camera is plugged in and should be charging. There is minimal documentation online about fixing this camera and I have requested Akaso replace the camera since it is only 3-4 months old. I submitted the warranty request online through the Akaso website a week ago and have not heard back from anyone. Avoid spending your money on a piece of garbage like this Akaso that breaks within a couple of months. GoPro may be more expensive but at least you always hear pretty good things about their customer service.EDIT: I did hear back from Akaso (their original reply went to my Spam) and they are replacing the unit. They are sending me an RMA to return it and will send out a new unit. I'll update this posting again after that resolution.

It's underwater capabilities
I have just purchased this camera so I haven't run it through the paces yet. I will give a follow up review once I've had more time checking it out. I bought this camera primarily for underwater videos. I had owned a cheaper action camera for the same purpose but felt it was time to upgrade. I would have gone with GoPro but I don't like their "ala carte" policy concerning accessories. This camera came with most of the gadgets and mounts I'll be needing. The camera is very solid and heavier (we're talking maybe 12 grams heavier) than models of the same dimensions. I like the fact that the battery is built in because I always hated losing all my settings when I swapped out batteries. The memory is built in as well at 64GB (58.9GB actual after formatting). Battery is supposed to last 3hrs @ 1080P 30fps and 2hrs @ 4k 30fps. I tested it running video @ 4k 60fps and it was still going at 1hr 30mins but had run out of memory. It made 18 individual videos of 5 minutes each (it automatically ends one file and starts another) with each file being a little over 3.2GB. I assume the time increases as resolution decreases but I haven't tested that yet. The manual says it take 4 hours to charge from a depleted state, The camera can withstand 33 ft. depths for 30 mins without the accompaning underwater case, 131 ft. with the case. There are two "fill lights" you can turn on in low light situations, they are mounted under the lens. Not sure how much use I'll get out of that. There are filters that come with the camera for use in fresh and salt water. My only complaint so far is that you cannot use the filters with the underwater case. It does have a software "diving" filter that I am anxious to test against my older action camera's "built in" filter which was poor to say the least. I don't do mountain biking or skiing so I can't comment on the image stabilization aspect. I would download the manual from www.akasotech.com/support . All in all pretty happy with what I know so far. I'll update in about 7-8 weeks once I return from my diving trip.

It's ok at best.
This camera comes with a bunch of accessories but as soon as I tried to get the data off the camera it froze and wouldn't allow me access to the data. Now I have a bricked camera that won't do anything.Along with that.Battery is internal, you can record while it's charging. Also there's no SD card...so the same cable for charging is also the data transfer cable. Neat feature but doesn't work on mine.

Paperweight
Well let's start with a charging cable. Couldn't use a stardard C?. One magnet came out so it wouldn't charge. After contacting customer service finally got a replacement. 10 days later and vacation over. Replacement cable wasn't the same so had to buy c to usb adapter. 2nd time camera just freezes and is useless. Can't power off. Can't do anything. It's been sitting for hours now. Still frozen. Total junk. And this is one of their most expensive. $200 paperweight.
