It is a floating trigger already and it does come apart for cleaning.

I wired mine to the power terminals directly on my ductless units. Been working great for almost a year now.

Q: what level water depth is required to work? what will it pump down to? Automatic on, automatic off?

It is automatic . There’s a float that comes with It . The water fills the float to activate the pump .
