Fast and reliable
By far this is the best laptop I've ever had. When I was doing my research because I wanted a better, faster and bigger laptop than my old HP, I stumbled across with this laptop. After researching it I found mixed opinions about it so I was a little dubious and hesitant but finally, I decided to give it a try. Some people have complained about that it get dirty easily with your finger prints and other things because of its finish and color and that's true, but for me it doesn't matter because it's a really beautiful laptop and it's easy to clean with a microfiber cloth and I think the pros easily overruns the cons. I use it mainly to R and Python programming and many times I really need fast processing and reliability. With this laptop I can run tests on my apps very fast without having to wait much as with the HP. Also as a programmer I most highlight that the display of this computer helps a lot making the code very clear and contrasting, and this is something I didn't expect and it's a very nice feature. I also use this laptop to listen to high-end audio and video. In a typical day, I have the browser opened with around 15 tabs opened, RStudio running tests and apps, WhatsApp, a high-end audio app along with a USB DAC connected and some times moving files between internal and external HDD's, all of this running at the same time (some times even more apps and software running) and this laptop won't even notice. For me this has been a great purchase. Heads up for Lenovo!!!.

Linux compatible and external screen works perfectly.
Been through multiple trials here to get a good Linux workstation for development and fpga designs. This is by far the best choice at the price. The external screen works fine with selectable graphics disabled and is sharp and Cristal clear on both internal and external screens.Removed Windows and put on Ubuntu 16.04. everything works. Wifi. Bluetooth etc.Laptop will suspend and wake but I don't use that.Be prepared to jump on the F2 button to interrupt to get into BIOS. Then set legacy boot and set legacy boot first.Select the USB drive as boot to install.I installed the Ubuntu on the 120 GB nvme and then use the 1TB for data. With 32GB RAM is an awesome bargain at just over 1K.I tried a number of laptops before this one and I an very experienced in Linux so this is a well deserved review for a good option.enjoy

Fast
I'm one of those people with multiple tabs open most of the time I'm on my computer. Many times that makes them run slowly. Not this one. The only time it has slowed down was when it needed to be restarted for an update. The wireless has been wonderful. My last two laptops from good brands have had trouble when I try to use wireless across the house from the router. This one works in every room of a larger house no matter the distance from the router. I'm not a big fan of the red back lighting for the keys. My kids however are. They call it the Darth Vader computer.

So far so good.
Works very well. It nearly had all the qualities of my old PC save this is 4 core. My old PC lasted 8 years and is still better than most PC you can find anywhere. That about says it about this laptop. I expect the battery power to be an issue but it holds a lot of power but I basically made this my PC anyway lol. So no issues.

Great computer, Windows 10, not so.
Great laptop, functions so much faster than my previous Lenovo B575 ( still running very well ). No issues with the seller or from Lenovo but with not knowing enough about how to transition all my files from the B575 to the new Y700 and with the differences between Windows 7 and Windows 10, became an issue and problem.Transfer was mostly successful until running out of Hard Drive space. The Y700 has two HDs, a small 128 GB SSD ( primary ) and a huge 1 TB secondary. Both drives are partitioned and as there is no built in ' bridge ' between the two, my file transfer was stopped when the primary HD was filled to capacity and a totally empty secondary that the operating system refused to recognize as accessible. Lots of Google searches for an answer and some book purchases, I was successful by creating storage folders on the secondary ( Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos, etc., etc. ) and " Moving " data from the primary to the secondary drive. Now I have programs on the fast SSD primary and the support storage files on the 1 TB secondary. My issue with the purchase is that the customer ( me ) should not have had to loose days of productivity to solve an issue that a simple " How To " reference could have solved if one had been provided. Other than a Quick Startup guide, there was practically no documentation with the new machine.Otherwise, very happy with the purchase if only Windows 10 didn't seem like a giant step backwards, IMHO.

Sit down, shut up and hang on!
Pro's1. Faster than my Z06 Corvette.2. JBL sound is better than in my Z06.3. The screen is outrageously beautiful.4. The 4 gig video card rocks!Con's1. No C type connectors2. If you use it on your lap, it weighs so much (about 8 lbs with food crumbs and dandruff) that your legs hurt.3. The 700 build is from 2015. A 3 year newer machine gaming model 720 or 730 weighs about 6 pounds. On sale, from Lenovo's site, the price is about the same as this model.
