Is this heat proof? Could I use it on hand painted coasters without hot drinks sticking?

Hi , I used the Minwax on a guitar I'd built , so I wasn't about to test it on that ! I used a scrap piece of wood to test the dyes and the Minwax on . This morning I used the piece of wood as a coaster to see what would happen . It didn't seem to make a mark on it so I guess the answer to your question is yes you could use it for what you want , I would however not put it on too thickly . Hope this helps .

Does this work on laminate?

It should work, but I suggest you make a try. You should first prepare the surface well with sandpaper.

Can this be put over danish oil on an oak desk which has cured for extra protection

I’m sure it would work beautifully. I have used it on a new table and it has worked/
