Q: For boaters...Is this well insulated and thick to help prevent electrolysis to the aluminum out drives etc. Many don't realize this is a big problem?

This cord is well insulated, it's outer case is completly sealed. It is thick, molded PVC. The electrolysis you are talking about is more commonly caused by bad wiring in the boat, e.g. lack of a blocking diode or isolation transformer. Also from the incorrect wiring of either of those items and incorrect ground wiring. Don Casey's & Nigel Calder's books ( both sold here on Amazon) cover this subject very well.
