It is a sumptuous book which gets the balance right between technical detail and lively anecdotal biography. The pictures are absolutely stunning. Breguet's watches are very elegant in comparison to the rather busy and bling-like quality prevalent in English watches of the time. By contrast, English Bracket clocks of that era were understated and elegeant; French equivalents were gaudy and bauble-strewn. Would love to own one of his guilloche watches with the eccentric subsidiary dials. Probably beyond my price range, but an example by one of his pupils might be more realistic.

Very good work
This showcases the genius of Breguet with some beautiful pictures and potted histories. It's not a biography of the man or a detailed examination of his production methods... but it's not meant to be. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I purchased this book for a friends Christmas present. He is a watch fanatic and was 'over the moon' when he received it.

Great book delivered promptly.

2025 marks the 250th anniversary of the watch company Breguet founded. With the rare ability to excel at art, commerce, math, and science, many consider him to be the greatest watchmaker of all time. This book gives a great overview of Breguet, his inventions, business associations, and a nice gallery of many of his timepieces, which is like walking through a museum. I would like to see some of the modern watches the company produces, but this is a wonderful book nonetheless.

著者にはBreguetの子孫のEmmanuel氏もおり、ブレゲの歴史を知るには良い本と言えます。 ただし、掲載されている時計はアンティークのポケットウォッチ主体で、最近の腕時計が知りたい人にはお勧め出来ません。 また、本書は洋書ですので、もちろん英語表記です。
