A well-made useful adjustable spanner.
Adjustable spanners are sometimes frowned on, and they are not preferred for critical tasks on cars, for example. The correct size of socket or ring spanner will avoid slipping and damage to fasteners. But any nut or bolt that this spanner can comfortably fit will almost certainly be too tight to be undone with it. Unless you slip a pipe or something over the handle to extend it, another bad idea. But there are many situations where it is the perfect tool. The shower mixer shown in some of the photos, for example, has a two nuts that definitely don't need tightening too much - they have rubber seals - and the finish would suffer from the use of more serious tools. This easy- to- adjust spanner, with its smooth jaws and short rubber-covered handle is short enough manoeuvre in the space between the two pipes, and can be left in place on the nut until finished. It is less likely to mark delicate surfaces than a chunky open-ended spanner, and is much lighter to use and store. It's quite nicely made (from chrome-vanadium steel, (not aluminium), more than good enough for occasional use, and the worm-screw adjuster can be turned with one finger (a drop of oil will help), opening and closing the jaws smoothly and accurately. The small amount of play present doesn't matter with the low torques. The engraved scale on the jaws can be used to measure fittings.I like this a lot. There is a range of sizes available, and the hard part is to choose one. I'll be using this to change some radiator valves next. If any of the old fittings are seized on, I'll use the chunky open-ender first. I could probably get away with hitting this with a hammer, but at £12.99, you don't really want to do that.

Sharp-tec - 6 inch (34mm) Wide Jaw Opening Adjustable Wrench
An adjustable spanner is one of those versatile tools that should be in every tool box and is really useful if you do any type of plumbing. This little 6” long (150mm) spanner from Sharp-Tec is a nice compact size, made from Chrome Vanadium and has a wide opening jaw design, that can be opened to 34mm. The jaws both have smooth surfaces and are quite deep. You have the usual adjustment worm screw and this particular model has a nice laser etched measurement scale. The handle is quite short compared to the size of the head and has a rubber coating for added comfort.***** In The Box *****1 x 6” Adjustable Spanner***** Conclusion *****Overall, I’m pretty happy with this little adjustable from Sharp-Tec.I like that it has a nice compact size for getting into tight areas, but at the same time has a nice wide jaw opening. The only downside to the small length handle is that you lose some leverage. The measurement scale on the side is a nice feature as it allows you to quickly set the rough size – this is handy when undoing fixings in difficult to reach places or those where you are working blind. The adjustment screw is fairly smooth, but there is a little play in the jaws.I should also say that although it has a nice weighty feel to it, the spanner does look a little cheap in my opinion (due to the handle design, I think). So overall, it’s not a bad spanner, although for the same kind of money you could get something from a well-known brand such as a Stanley or OX Pro, which have nicer handles and would likely be slightly better quality.

Handy for tight spaces or emergencies. Wobbly jaws
Adjustable spanners are great things. If you are working on something that doesn't require a lot of force or has lots of different sized bits they can be a a huge help. This is a spanner with a grip of up to 34mm, which is pretty big. But it has a length of 150mm, so there's not a huge amount of leverage you can get on it. On the other side because it is shorter it's easier to get into akward spaces. The jaws adjust easily and are a bit wobly. So you will have to tighten them on the nut, or over tighten slightly. They have an engraved rule on the side so you can easily read the size of the nut, should you decide to grab a spanner or socket. I have used this trick to save me filling my pockets with sockets. The handle is coated with a rubber coating that does the job, but i reckon will eventually crack and peel. The spanner will be fine as a back up or once in a random moon use. The type that gets placed in a tool box at your family relatives house for those emergency jobs.Ok quality. At time of review this is listed for sale at £12.99 which is not great value. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it useful.

Handy due to size
This adjustable wrench is absolutely perfect.Due to its size it makes light work of glands in difficult to access areas. It has a good adjustment range and remains solid once adjusted to sized.Overall good quality product at a reasonable price.

Good quality smooth movement
This spanner is a nicely made hand spanner. Often I find on wrenches like this that the gear and jaw mechanism have a lot of slop in them.Specifically I find that when you are gripping a nut with other spanners, the screw will no longer turn properly and tighten the jaw. With this spanner I am able to tighten the jaw very well against any object. Even pushing the jaws together I can turn the screw and open the jaws. The handle is covered in a rubberised plastic, it is easy to hold and should provide enough grip for most tasks.

Very small. But handy to have.
Got this in a drawer. No pressing plumbing jobs, thankfully. But this seems like a good thing. Nice and small, which is what I liked; as it doesn’t take up a ton of room in the 99% of times when I will never use it. Really pretty dinky. A bit expensive for what it is.
