I ordered this cable after another I ordered failed to charge my Garmin Nuvi GPS, despite claiming it was charging as well as data. This one worked flawlessly. I thought it might be a bit longer than necessary but that hardly matters for storage and it may prove to be useful in certain situations. The 90-degree angle and "down" connector were perfect. I don't have to take along the Garmin integrated cigarette lighter cable and hope the rental car has a lighter outlet, when some nowadays only have a USB.

Nice heavy and long wire. Works well with Garmin GPS and receives radio traffic notifications. Blocks data connection so unit will not go into update mode when using car USB port.

Purchase of new car - with no cigarette lighter outlet - required a cable with a USB connection. Be careful: the Garmnin Nuvi GPS operates on 5 volts, usually supplied by your laptop computer. Your car output may be 12 volts. This cable contains an internal voltage regulator which will automatically drop the voltage supplied to the GPS to 5 volts. Also, this is a "charging" cable, which means it will power the GPS, but cannot be used to connect to a computer for download of updates. For that, you need a "data" cable.

Perfect solution to power your USB A garmin device! I mount a Garmin 600t gps to the handlebars of our ATV, the round cigarette type power socket just doesn't cut it, the round plug does not stay in place when riding on rougher trails constantly loosing power to the Garmin. This 'power only' cord was the answer to that problem. I changed out the round socket for a dual USB power port, then what was needed was a USB A cord that would just power the Garmin and not bring up the "computer connection" screen. This cord was designed to do just that. Price is very affordable. The only possible negative would be that maybe It could be a heavier gauge wire considering the type of use it will see in this application. Time will tell for that concern. *Pixeman has two versions of this cable, the only difference being on the direction of how the "A" plug fits into your device so look at which cable end will work best for your device.

I lost my original cable to the garmin gps during a move. I've updated it but the battery only lasts an hour or so. This cable plugs into my USB charger I already use for the phone and keeps the GPS running. It also allows it to receive live traffic updates which I thought you had to have the garmin cable to do. While on I80 in Indiana I got notifications of traffic slowdowns and that was very helpful.

Used on a Garmin Drive 60LMT GPS. Connected to an OBD to USB adapter under the dash and hid the cable up to weighted dashboard mount. Provides power (selectable on/off with ignition) and TRAFFIC ANTENNA! Now get traffic updates along with GPS route. Good quality. Thick wire.

Bought this cable due to my new car not having a 12V outlet, progress they say... I can't use my trusty Garmin GPS model nuvi 2639LMT without a 12V outlet according to Garmin. This USB cable allows >1A to be available to the GPS unit, allowing 100% brightness. Also the traffic works perfectly with the GPS builtin traffic receiver. Make sure your USB power source can at least handle the 5V and 1A (or 1000mA) power requirement needed by the Garmin GPS. This USB cable provides the power and the antenna for the traffic receiver. A USB power bank could help if you don't have any 12V outlet or have no USB connections or are worried you might overload your USB ports. I'm thinking of getting the Anker Prime Power Bank 27K or 20K, but haven't decided yet. Well done!
