The black is black and the red has a great sheen to it. It really pops. It's the kind of patch that says "Yeah, I'm part of a militarized terrorist organization, what of it?"

As far as being a patch is concerned it does the job it was intended to do. The threading could be a little better but in the end for the price I really enjoy it.
