Hard to put down, up there with the best of SOG books.
Some really interesting and exciting missions covered here, with highly detailed insights into the planning, execution and after action reporting from the one-zero's perspective.Very well written, a real page turner. If you look Dick Thompson up on Insta, you can email him and he will send you signed and inscribed stickers to insert into these books.

Best one yet
I have read many books of this type over the years. This book is refreshing in that it's not about me, me, me, it actually tells a story of the journey to SF, the many nail biting Ops he and his band took part in. It obviously took great courage to do what he and several like him did but it also demonstrates that no matter how Special you are, you still rely heavily on other services to get you out of deadly situations.I really hope book two arrives on the market soon as I want to finish the Vietnam story.

Inside View of Highly Classified Missions “Over the Fence”
I have read many books outlining SOGs missions into Laos, Cambodia and North Vietnam but this book shines a completely different perspective on those missions, as seen through a team commander’s eyes. It is quite excellent!

Real life hero
Dick Thompsons book is a must read for anyone interested in SF in Vietnam. His exploits should be the stuff of legend and hopefully now will be.If you ever watched a action film and thought wow that's far fetched. Please read this book the truth is often stranger than fiction.

Dick Thompson is The Terminator and The Real Rambo
What a fantastic book. Dick takes us through his early life as he developed his hunter instincts in the woods, and then his first reconnaissance missions behind enemy lines in Laos. In the clandestine world of MACV SOG - he worked with fearless indigenous fighters who became his brothers and protectors. They soon learned that his training ideas would save their lives on each suicide mission undertaken. This book is frank, brutal and honest - a unique explanation of men in the crucible of war, which has an unusual and enlightening perspective on the psychology of combat. A must-read.
