Product Description Benjamin Esposito has spent his entire working life as a criminal court employee. Recently retired and with time on his hands, he decides to write a novel. He does not decide to make up a story. There is no need. He can draw on his own past as a civil servant for a true, moving and tragic story in which he was once very directly involved. In 1974, his court was assigned an investigation into the rape and murder of a beautiful young woman. Language: Spanish Subtitles: English Review Humane and harrowing, highly recommended. This one will stay with you. ***** --EmpireYou won't be able to take your own eyes off them, or to get this supremely intelligent and deeply touching thriller out of your head. **** --Rolling Stone --Rolling Stone Review: The importance of the look. - "THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES" "El secreto de sus ojos" five stars. Extremely interesting and very well done, probably the best Argentinian production in the last years. It consists in a parallel- deep and very intelligent-portrait between two relatively different situations: the theme of Justice in Argentina during the military dictatorship and the personal problems of a man, a retired criminal prosecutor, in an excellent way played by Ricardo Darin. He desires intensely to write a book and as a theme he finally selects the unresolved crime of a young woman. Working , in the past, he had seen her dead body, her eyes still open fixing him. And since it was his job for years, he falls into the temptation of resolving the affair finding the criminal by himself This dual situation, writer or prosecutor , haunts him. The Justice Palace (el Palacio de Justicia)a remarkable"1.900 grandeur" building appears frequently almost as another character. The rest, streets, offices, bars, houses, his own room, are all badly dreary and dark. Severe social problems are added to his own...that probably is a consequence. Reality is a permanent obstacle to his desires of united existence. He goes on. Nevertheless he finds two friends, with one of them working in his old office as an actual collaborator in his decision of finding the criminal . And also a friend in a permanent "unrequited" love for his ex-boss, a very beautiful and intelligent Scottish lawyer, her big eyes showing her slow increase of affection for him. A masterpiece played by Soledad Villamil. Our man and one of his friends, after many dangerous situations(an excellent football match madness included) finally find the criminal. Once back in the Police, violent and interesting things develop among the triangle, he, her, and the poor young wretch. The intolerable corruption of the Official Government turns back the whole situation to zero. The film is a thriller but also a sincere and very well done one, especially intelligent ,new wider local outlook defeating the old "tango-philosophy "of abandon and traitress women and where we can finally find love, friendship and change towards own maturity .In the very end, optimistic and positive is my opinion, he finds the look that gives him the certainty he exists.(D.Winnicott) I recommend very much this excellent film! Enjoy it. Review: Sit back, relax and experience a masterpiece of cinema - This is unequivocally, without question the finest, most gratifying film I have ever seen. And I've sat through thousands over the decades, from the wretched (`Meet the Spartans', `McGruber') to the sublime (`The lives of others'). Earlier reviews have touched on the plot and I believe it's best to simply be vaguely aware of the bare bones. To give away more could potentially spoil this peerless movie. In fact I heartily wish I could forget every second of `The secret in their eyes', just to make it possible to feel again the unalloyed joy of seeing it for the first time: a deeply pleasant surprise that I fear can never be equalled let alone surpassed. Plot, cinematography, editing, acting and characterisation (particularly the tragic Sandoval) all come together almost uniquely in a perfect storm of movie brilliance that slowly uncoils to leave you awestruck in a welter of emotions. Real film buffs (who've more than likely already enjoyed `The secret in their eyes') will note that Hollywood is remaking this in its own image; in other words presumably upping the levels of profanity, nudity, special effects and violence by a hundredfold to conform to the dumbed-down cookie-cutter action swear fest expected by their apparent core target audience of frat boys with no concept of a world view. The film world doesn't need Hollywood and its commercial constraints; there is proof of this across the globe even with relatively recent movies such as `Elite Squad', `Antibodies', etc, etc. Comparing the average Hollywood movie to `The secret in their eyes' is like comparing Dickens to Harold Robbins: it is head, shoulders, torso and thighs above anything their scriptwriters can conceive, which is why this and `Anything for her', to use another single example, are being desperately copied in a long overdue bid to re-establish artistic credentials. Is `Inception' really mitigation for `Year zero' or `Disaster Movie'? Enough ranting, here's the SP: get a copy of `The secret in their eyes' at your earliest convenience and experience its gentle sophisticated genius for yourself.

Great movie. Watched it several times. Works as a crime mystery thriller but also has a great love story woven into it as well. Would recommend everyone to watch it. Product arrived in time and good quality.
