I was SUPER sketched out by the smell. I'm one of the odd ones that like the smell of gas an oil but It's so strong and was so paranoid someone tampered with the shampoo (or expired?) cuz it's too strong. Turns out, it's supposed to smell like that? Lol, aside from the smell, it took the itchy dry skull away THANK GOD. but I don't think my hair likes it, it feels Hella dried out, but just as long as I use conditioner and leave it on a little longer, my hair is normal again.UPDATE 5/19/24this doesn't work. I gave up, switched to head an shoulders and my itchy/dandruff was gone for good in a few uses. This went into the trash. So disappointed

I used a generic coal tar shampoo prior to this. This shampoo’s smell is milder, but still works just as well. I’d say it works even better. I think the combination of aloe and coal tar is very soothing to a dry itchy scalp!If you haven’t used coal tar before this smell is normal and honestly you get used to it. I’ve learned to like the smell. Definitely buying again.

I was introduced to this shampoo by my 100 year old mother's caretaker because she had flaky areas on her scalp that shampoos we had used did not remedy. After using this shampoo for my mother 3-4 times, the flaky areas on her scalp were gone, and her hair looked much healthier and thicker.I am 73 and decided to try it on my own hair. I had been trying a few different natural shampoos, but my hair did not seem as thick or as shiny as it had in the past. OK, I am 73 and maybe this was an "age" thing. I was also noticing what felt like rough patches on the back of my scalp near the hairline if I didn't wash my hair every two days.When I tried this shampoo the first time, there was an immediate improvement. My hair seemed thicker and was shinier than it had been. I have not had the dry patches on my scalp even if I don't wash my hair for even 4 days. Having used this shampoo a few times, I am now totally sold on this shampoo. Each time I use it, my hair seems to improve. Damage from the hair dryer and curling iron is slowly disappearing. The ends that used to look dried now look healthy. This shampoo actually does improve the health of your hair and makes it look thicker and shinier. I have added a picture of myself so you can see how good my hair looks now. I have also included a picture of my Mom.The only negative I can think of is that this shampoo has a strong tea tree oil odor I don't care for. Since the odor doesn't linger after rinsing my hair, I can tolerate it for the short time its on my hair. The benefits of this shampoo far outweigh the inconvenience of the tea tree oil odor for a short time.If this shampoo can help my mother and I, I am confident it can help anyone improve the health of their hair.UPDATE 07/09/20:I have been using this shampoo for about 3 months and our caregiver had also been using it for my mother. I love that this shampoo had caused my hair to look thicker, but in the last couple of weeks, I noticed the ends looked dried out. Since this shampoo is advertised for problems of the scalp that cause itching, I am assuming the tea tree oil in it has a drying effect on the hair. In the past, I have used Dove Conditioner for Intense Repair for spit ends, so I used this conditioner the last time I washed my hair, and the ends did not look dried.I mentioned this to my mother's caretaker who also uses this shampoo, and she told me she had the same result for her hair. So, she alternates this shampoo with another Argan shampoo I had recommended to her. She also told me she had been alternating the shampoo she uses for my mother. I believe the tea tree oil in this shampoo is good to initially relieve scalp problems, and it does tend to thicken hair and give it more body. Even so, this is not a shampoo that you should use long term or constantly as it does tend to dry the hair. It's best to use this shampoo to keep your scalp health, but to alternate it with a good shampoo that does not have tea tree oil. Using a good conditioner like the Dove conditioner mentioned above is also helpful.I hope this review was helpful for you.

If you used T-Gel, or something similar, you know that the insane price increase on those products is forcing folks to find alternatives. Heck, a few of those companies simply stopped making product. I was dubious about this shampoo, honestly, bc I'm so accustomed to bare-bones brown goop that smells terrible. This shampoo has a bit of that scent, but it has argan oil and other ingredients that make it superior to T-Gel while being affordable and getting the job done. Plus it's a single wash product, not double wash. I'll be ordering again and will recommend

My dandruff only seems to get better with coal tar shampoos. This one is great because it doesn’t have a heavy tar smell. I’ve only been using it for a week but it seems to help with the itching.

Granted the coal tar doesn’t smell amazing, but it takes what it takes. After using it a few times in a week, the decrease in dry scalp was obvious. Have gone down to once a week and it’s still really effective.

Not important but the bottle arrived dirty on the outside. Also bursted in my luggage when bringing it on vacation. Nonetheless, stopped working and psoriasis came back quickly after a few uses. Found out after doing some internal research that the company producing the product has poor factory quality control, their hand sanitizer had cancer causing chemicals in it, and the FDA stated this company’s hand sanitizer was on a ban list. The FDA never tested their shampoos because they aren’t used for medical purposes like hand sanitizer. I would be cautious if I were you.

I liked the product overall. My scalp feels great even after a week. Only gripe is that it does not foam-up so it’s kinda hard to know it’s working and that I’ve hit all the areas on my scalp. I’ve taken to putting a little bit of some other mild shampooI’m with it to foam up better and that works for me.

I’ve not had any difficulties with this shampoo. It works as described, I think, but too early to tell if there are long-term positive results or not.
