Excellent Picture & Smart Features for the Price
The TCL 40” S3 Smart TV is a fantastic value! The 1080p resolution looks crisp and clear, and the built-in smart features make it easy to stream Netflix, YouTube, and more without needing extra devices. It’s lightweight, easy to set up, and perfect for bedrooms, dorms, or smaller living rooms. Great sound and smooth performance for a budget-friendly price!

Great tv. No need to spend more
Great tv. This is my second TCL and it is as good as any of the more expensive ones. Great picture, simple set up plus it is Roku which makes it very convenient

Good Tv at a good price.
Watch out. There is a thin film on the screen and hard to see. I thought I got ripped off with a sticker on the front of the Tv and I even ordered a replacement before I realized there was actually nothing wrong with the screen. I canceled the replacement. TV is Great and the Roku functions work fine.

TV is great. Built in Roku could be better.
For the price these TVs are hard to beat. I'm using these in a rental property and the built in Roku Guest Mode is perfect for the use case. The picture is clear and crisp. The colors are great. Roku is a very intuitive system and works great.Minor complaints for Roku: In guest mode let us select or add at least one or two default applications to the guest list. I have a streaming device that needs an app to be installed and there is no way to do it other than leaving detailed instructions for the guest because Roku isn't listening to it's users. Also stop with the additional advertising. A little is fine but it's getting to be intrusive.

Small bezels, great picture/colors, good sound.
I needed a replacement for my old tcl roku I bought in 2019, which I primarily use as a second screen for my laptop/ watch movies or tv shows when going to bed. My first purchase was the vizio 32 inch tv. Immediately had issues with it refusing to get past the activation screen even though I activated it. Figured Id do it later and connected it to my monitor. My god it looked horrible. The letters on my notepad had such bad ghosting that my eyes actually hurt. My live wallpaper looked like a mess. I cant believe that vizio would put out a product that bad. Mustve been defective, but didnt want to risk it. So i returned and decided, might as well go with what I know. So I bought this tv which is a literal upgrade to my old one.Positives:The picture is stunning. Very bright, color accurate. No ghosting when connected to my laptop.Very responsive, no stutteringSmall bezels freed up space on my deskSound is goodNegatives:Same old remote. Although the vizio's picture was atrocious, i really liked the remote. It was bigger and felt more premium than the tclsThe panel (subjective). While standing up (keep in mind I was right next to the tv looking down on it), I noticed my live wallpaper was blown out. After conversing with chatgpt (the thought of explaining this to my 18 year old self always cracks me up), I learned that this tv uses a VA panel, which limits viewing angles. My old 2019 model didnt have this issue, as it used an ips panel. Now it was nowhere near as bad, actually barely noticeable when watching netflix, but absurdly noticeable on my wallpaper. On the other hand, with the va you get better contrast and deeper blacks. So personal preference. I included pictures to show how bad it affected my wallpaper, and how little it affected a tv show. For $150, its 100% worth it. And if you're in the same boat as I was deciding between this and the vizio, get the tcl. Youll thank me later.

Great quality for the price!
This TV has worked great from the start, especially for the price! Would highly recommend. It's only been about a year, but no mechanical breakdown yet. Seems to be a good find.

BEST TV EVER
The picture is crystal clear and vibrant. Set up is easy. It's the perfect size for the bedroom. Thank you to another reviewer who intructed us that we can turn off the standby LED light by going to settings>system>power>standby LED. The feet were a little bit of a pain for me to get on, but not enough for me to deduct a star. The price beats all others I was considering. You can rename the HDMI ports like I did when I connected my DVD player. I have not bought a sound bar yet as recommended on the manual, but it is nice to know which port to use for it and what is compatible. I connected my digital antenna to the cable/antenna port and local stations automatically come up first in the guide on Live TV, then many streaming channels are listed, although a little different than my Samsung smart TV in the living room. The mute and volume buttons are convenient on the side of the remote, but I will use none of the 4 preset app buttons on the bottom. It would be nice if you could program these. I did notice that I cannot submit feedback via the * button like I could on my stick about apps that fail to load. Some might miss the numbers on a regular remote to quickly go to a local channel, but you can favorite ♡ channels. I see no power button on the TV itself. I did buy a riser that works well: LOTEYIKE Dual Monitor Stand for 2 Monitors, Large TV Riser.Parental controls are an option. Also, under privacy > advertising, you can personalize ads to see fewer ads about many topics that you can check off like mature content, violence, etc. You can put in your zipcode for local recommendations. There are power and sleep timer options.I did have to rearrange my Roku apps in my preferred grouping that I had installed on my previous Roku stick. For those not familiar with Roku: live TV with free streaming channels, videos apps, educational, movies, relaxing nature, music, health, self-help, and bible stuff (reading, teaching, prophecy, relaxing videos and true science). I don't need cable with all the cool stuff on Roku. This has the same wallpapers and themes as the stick. You can even set the screensaver to a fireplace, nature, something colorful, or a beautiful, live aquarium.Complaint: Roku live channels no longer have True History. So, for those of us wanting to learn about the Black Death, the plague of the Middle Ages or other fascinating history, we must install the Xumo app on Roku and go there to find it.
