At last, a natural deodorant that works!
UPDATE Oct 2022: sadly, after about a year or so I had to stop using Moon Goo as it began making my skin react and be sore. I think it's the baking soda in it, so I tried their other one that doesn't have baking soda but it's a much runnier consistency and I found it impossible to use, especially in summer months. It's a real shame as I really liked this and the scent. It's hard to predict how skin will react to things and you can have a reaction or become allergic to something totally randomly after having previously been fine. I suspect with me it may in part be a peri-menopause symptom as new skin sensitivies and allergies are common at this stage in life. I now use Nuud as it's the only one seemingly guaranteed to not make me react - but it's nowhere near as effective on me as Moon Goo and more expensive!Long review. For about two years now I've been looking for a natural deodorant that doesn't waste plastic and actually works (and doesn't break the bank), to replace the traditional roll-on antiperspirants I have used my whole adult life. As well as being very poor from an environmental perspective, roll-on antiperspirants make me come out in painful lumps in my armpits after using them for a while, at which point I have to change brand until the same thing happens again. There is also the persistent though not proven concern about potential links between the aluminium in antiperspirants and breast cancer. On my quest to find a replacement, I have tried so many different natural deodorants that I have lost count. Some standouts listed here.Rock crystal deodorants - what a waste of time. I may as well not use anything at all. In fact, some expensive Japanese one I tried from Boots actually made me smell WORSE than if I wore no deodorant at all, and I ended up binning it well before it was finished - not exactly great for the environment!Ben & Anna, a solid roll-on in a cardboard tube. Good for the environment. Smelled nice. Worked a bit but frankly did not last me a whole day. The killer for me though was that as the tube wore down, the cardboard rubbed my skin and made my underarms sore, so not exactly an improvement on the lumps that antiperspirant gives me. Also it's really expensive. About the same price as this Moon Goo but I found I got through it in only a couple of weeks, making it expensive. At various points I have given up and gone back to traditional antiperspirants. After yet again coming out in painful underarm lumps (even with "Dove Sensitive", alcohol-free ones, and various supposed "aloe vera" formulations) I tried Nuud, the unscented cream deodorant in a biodegradable sugar cane tube. I tried the starter pack, which is a smaller tube than you get in a normal "smarter pack". This would have been what I settled on if I hadn't found Moon Goo. Nuud says that your body may need a couple of weeks to adjust to it (or to other natural deodorants), as it works through the chemicals in your system from traditional antiperspirants, but that after that you will probably only need to use it every few days. You're supposed to start off using it every other day. Personally I found it took more like three weeks until I felt it was working for me, and I never got to the point of daring to drop usage down to every three days because I felt I was definitely not as fresh as I'd like to be by the end of the second day. But generally speaking I felt it worked to a reasonably acceptable level most of the time - wouldn't really stand up to an extended exercise session though. I didn't mind it not having a scent, that's better than a nasty scent. However I feel it, too, works out expensive because it's pricey for a small tube - you only use a pea sized amount per underarm so if you are one of those amazing people who can go five days between Nuud application, it probably works out to a reasonable cost. However if you are stuck using it every other day, it becomes expensive - and because it's in a tube you have the issue of struggling to get out every last drop. Still, it was the best I had found up to that point but I wanted one last ditch attempt to find something that REALLY works rather than just about works, and wasn't so expensive. That's when I ordered Moon Goo in the lavender scented extra strong version (haven't tried the standard strength one). I was worried that the baking soda in it would irritate my underarm skin, given how sensitive my skin is, and there were mixed reviews about that here. However I've been using it for two or three weeks now and I've not had any irritation or soreness yet, even when I use it after shaving my armpits. It smells absolutely gorgeously of lavender when you first put it on, though the smell does fade rather during the day. Best of all? It WORKS!! It's a deodorant, obviously, not an antiperspirant, so it won't stop you sweating. However when using this, my sweat doesn't smell. I mean, it really doesn't. This really works. And it lasts all day, and it survives exercise and working hard in the garden. It is an absolute game changer for me. And it comes in a metal pot, not plastic, and because it's a pot rather than a tube it will be easy to get the last bit out. And although you use it every day like a traditional antiperspirant, you only need a really small amount so one pot is going to last me ages, making it genuinely affordable. I've been using it two or three weeks now and I've barely made a dent in it, really. I just wash my hands then swipe two fingers over the top of it (it's a paste consistency) and rub that in to one armpit area, then repeat for the other armpit, and then wash my hands again to remove the residue. It has not stained any of my clothes. Also, unlike Nuud, Moon Goo worked for me immediately from the first time I used it, my body didn't need any time to adjust. Whether this was because my body had already adjusted to Nuud, and whether others might need some time to adjust to it for it to work for them, I have no idea.I suspect that when it comes to natural deodorants, what works for one person is not always going to work for everybody else. Lots of the products I tried that did not work at all for me seem to work for some others, judging from reviews. So I can't guarantee Moon Goo extra strong will work for you, and I can't guarantee the baking soda won't bother your skin even though it doesn't bother my very sensitive skin. But I can say categorically that it properly works for me, lasts all day, smells nice, and is economical because I only need a very small amount. I can also say that I will definitely buy more when I eventually run out!! This is far and away the best natural deodorant I have found for me.I did not receive any product in exchange for this review. I just saw Moon Goo when browsing Amazon, and bought it with my own money. It was well worth it. I wrote this review because my personal search for an effective and affordable natural deodorant that doesn't make me come out in lumps and isn't bad for the environment has been long and frustrating, and I thought this might help someone. Try Moon Goo.

PROs, CONs, TIPs and my honest opinion why I think it's worth trying!
I ordered this product as I finally wanted to ditch all my spray deodorants and go over to a more sustainable and environmental friendly product.I stopped using deodorants with Aluminium Salts a good while ago and only used one of the common brands for "tougher times".First of all, the can is bigger and fuller than I thought, the lid opens and closes very easy, it was filled to the top and the scent is JUST AMAZING. Application is a bit different but easy, just a tiny bit on your fingertip and spread it. The texture is creamy and soft and melts on your skin, leaving it hydrated but not in a really greasy feel or so.I love Lavender, Rosemary and Lemongrass, so this was just the absolute perfect combination. The Scent is quite strong, but thats what I prefer. It smells a bit like an organic perfume when you move. Basically just like "common deodorant" does.I had not the feel that there was a transition period, but that might have been the case as I had stopped aluminium salt sprays years ago.I read the neative reviews about rashes, but ordered anyways as I always prefer to try things myself.I used it daily, sometimes every other day, but to be fair, I was looking to apply it after the shower in the morning and smell it through the day.The first month was perfect and I was about to write my review. Then i noticed that my armpits start to itch. Stupid enough, I had shaved in the morning and applied it straight after, which is not recommended. I don`t shave daily, so it was not much of a big deal and just let it calm down to try again. I started using it after a few days, but had red spots and itchyness soon after. I was not sure if it was caused by a tight jumper and my armpit hair growing back, so I kept using. The itchyness was annoying and uncomfortable, but no blisters or anything.I stopped using and shortly after the itchyness was gone. For a week or two I used another deodorant.I did not want to believe that it was caused by Moon Goo, as I loved the smell and had no problems the first month. I just waited a bit and started again, just to make sure, as I normally do not have sensitive skin at all, nore any allergies.I knew I sometimes had rash in the summer from sweating, so I wanted to eliminate that cause too. I read, that your armpits rash can be caused by a skin PH imbalance (too alkaline or too acidic) so you should try to neutralise your PH by applying a cotton pad with Apple Cider Vinegar & water 3 times a day.I gave this a go and tried it for a week, without shaving, without any deodorant (homeoffice luckily haha!).Then I carefully tried to start again, first armpit wipe with ACV, let it dry, then a tiny amount of Moon Goo, much less than I used to use before. The first day was ok, the second day I was not sure if the itchiness had come back, but the third day of using it was clear that it was back. Some bodies don`t agree with Baking Soda, which is unfortunately the reason why Moon Goo works so well.Nontheless - It is worth a try! You might have sensitive skin and don`t have any rash at all, you might be fine for months and start to develop it, .. give it a go, try to neutralise your PH first before you give up.I bought a different brand now, one that does not smell as nice as Moon Goo ;((( and only contains a minimum amount of baking soda. It is better but a very slight itchyness is also there. So I might have to switch to an alternative without any BS at all.Still - absolutely recommend!!

Space Cat vs Moon Goo deodorant
I'd originally bought Moon Goo; I'd read the reviews of people saying they'd had reactions to it but I've never had a reaction to a product (apart from spf sun protection and that's a whole other awful story!).Anyway, the Moon Goo arrived and I gave it a try. I like the texture; sort of waxy, it applied easily and I didn't need much. I really loved the smell. Unfortunately within a couple of applications my armpits became sore so I had to stop using it - I assume it's the bicarb. I was able to return for a refund with no trouble.Since I was impressed with the product (even if my armpits weren't.....), I thought I'd try Space Cat as it's bicarb free. I've got on much better with this and on the whole like it enough to reorder. It has a nice natural smell and seems effective, it has a more grainy texture than the Moon Goo which seems strange - I would've thought the one with bicarb would be but that wasn't the case; anyway, it's not unpleasant to use. You don't need much, however I was disappointed that it didn't last longer. I've been using it for six weeks - and not every day either - and it's almost finished; I think it'll be gone by seven weeks. Is it good value for money? I'd lean towards no but then again it's all natural, comes in an aluminium tin and is overall a nice, effective product so if it's affordable to you, I'd say give it a try.
