The mat is really big, with enough space to work comfortably. It dont have bad smells and the magnets work well. It is very useful when working soldering. Important Note: This mat is not ESD safe; the seller should put this in the product name because most of people think it is, This mat is designed for soldering. If you want an ESD safe material dont buy this

Whether I'm disassembling electronics, gluing an item, or painting miniatures this has been my all purpose crash pad for projects.The many seperate cubbies have been helpful for holding items for prep or drying. The recessed screw matrix helps with part identification, so you can easily track what order small screws were removed and where they go (taking a diagram picture with your phone and numbering each one helps with this) just be careful of the magnet in the upper right portion of the mat if working on sensitive electronics. This magnet portion also works for holding screws or even my magnetic miniature bases.The top tray works well for organizing your screwdrivers or even as a paintbrush tray.Haven't yet used it for soldering but I suspect since it's silicone it would hold up and would probably just as be acceptable for wood burning (pyromancy) projects as well.Nice sturdy mat with a multitude of uses.
