The Alexander Technique Workbook : Brennan, Richard: desertcart.in: Books Review: A well written workbook, easy to understand. Review: This is one of the best books for the self may have an interest in the Alexander technique without really understanding of what it consists of: is also one of the clearest and understandable workbook with respect to the Alexander technique that one can find. I've had it in previous edition, table top size which I loved to death so that I needed to purchase this one just to see it reincarnated into a easier to carry but just as incredible book. I think I'm just going to cut the review short and declare that if you have Either a body or mind you need to buy this book and read it and do it or rather on do it. Alexander himself declared that we develop a debauched kinesthetics So that what feels right is wrong and what feels wrong is right an incredibly enough, that statement is correct. Over years of what is known as and gaining without paying any conscious attention to the means whereby, and storing what is known as the startle effect that turns us into what look like old people before their time (I've been known to demonstrate this both to Alexander students and to actors), an actual pure method of looking like you need a walker or cane, to take a step. This is an unlearning which has results beyond imagining – which means to say that although they declare (and I agree) That it is not a cure for any specific illness, the first time I ever had and Alexander technique lesson with another person and she helped me to stand and asked me how I felt, these words came out of my mouth unbidden; "I Feel like a Person Who Has Never Had a Problem" And I myself was taken aback by these words that came out of my mouth. That is the power of the technique in a nutshell, and this book by Richard Brennan should be purchased with gold coins. Deserving of 7 stars.

Just what I wanted.

The book focuses on the history (the idea of an Australia actor who died in the 1950s), and the thinking behind the techniques. Light on actual techniques and not really a 'how to' book. Essentially, it's about what is now called mindfulness - being super aware of how you move, stand and sit. Repeatedly says the book is no substitute for classes and a teacher, which I was hoping it might have been as there are no classes/teachers where I live.
