Could not put this book down!!!
This was my first dark paranormal romance. I haven't read a vampire book in years. I am shocked at how much I ADORED a book about Amish vampires, LOL! It was so GOOD!! The proper, sheltered, God-fearing vampire was a totally new take. And his reactions to things in the real world made me chuckle. Because of his innocence, when his feral side came out it was all the more sensual and delicious! Lydia Michaels knows how to write TENSION! And the spice was delectable, and this is coming from someone who prefers to read light to no spice. Lydia also knows how to develop a plot!! I audibly gasped at the plot twists that developed!! I literally abandoned so many responsibilities to read this book and it put me in a slump it was so good. You HAVE to read this book. I can't wait to continue the series!!

Adam & Annalise
MF, no cheating/sharing, low steam, HEA3.5 stars. Very interesting story - Amish immortals that turn into uncontrolled blood-suckers if they can't find their fated mate when the time hits. Emotional story. the h had a hard life and then was thrown into a world she didn't even know existed. I wish the H had been a bit more alpha - yeah, I like the caveman attitude LOL. But, I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

Wonderful
The journey you are taken on is full of surprises. The characters are extremely likable and relatable. It is easy to root for them to succeed. So excited to finish this series!!

I skimmed a little
This first book was Entertaining enough that I went ahead and bought the second book, I also dislike the fact that I have to use a bunch of words to leave in review

Worth every word
My first book with this author leads me to the next in the series. I’m so excited to read the next element. The book is long but worth every word. Kept my interest throughout. Can’t wait to read Cain and Larissa’s stories.

Amish Vampires, Who Knew?
Amish Vampires. Yes, you read that right. I hated the Amish part. The vampire part is what made me read this book. Plus it was recommended by Pam Godwin. So these Immortals get "called by God" to find their fated mate. If they don't find them they turn into vampires in the classic sense of the word. They live as an Amish sect because it enables them to hide in plain site, off the grid away from government intervention. They can walk in sunlight and eat normal food. They follow the rules and ordinances set by their community's council of elders. Their society is very patriarchal.Adam, a young Amish farmer has been "called" and finds that his mate is a young "English" (modern American) woman, Annalise, who knows nothing of Amish ways. She essentially has no family or close friends. Adam abducts her and takes her back to the family farm. Before he completes the "bonding" with her he wants to get her to accept him on her own first. But time is of the essence and Annalise does not like the patriarchy of these "people".I liked the basic story but there was just so much dialogue that I felt wasn't necessary. It was mostly Adam trying to convince Annaleese to stay. I skimmed through some of it because it was just repetitive. There were a few typos but not too distracting. There were several very erotic scenes that were well done. The ending had a nice HEA. There will be more books in this series. You can tell by some of the loose ends left by other characters. I hope that those books will be less Amish.

WOW is all i can say
Adam has always been a very honourable immortal until the day his world starts to shift and the lines between right and wrong begin to blur when the pull to find his true mate is clawing at him . He has to find her before he looses his humanity and his soul or he will turn into a tortured demonic vampire . Will his mate come to him willing or will they have to do a dance that will have them both wondering what and if they can be together . They need to overcome the betrayal that started this and surrender to the love that is deep down inside . Ok you are probably waiting for me to tell you about the characters in this book .The first thing i am going to say is holy hotness who knew that you could take and Amish man and make him sex walking , that is Adam to the core. He is immortal but such a honourable man but also such an alpha man that would have any woman swooning at just one look . He does the wrong thing for the right reason and there are moments that you will hate him and then there are moments that you will want to climb him like a spider monkey and say yes Sir . Now Annalise well she is one feisty woman. sassy beyond words but there is also a sadness in her that you just want to hug and help her out. She does put up a good fight with Adam and when they are together they are combustible . I loved these characters so much i think that they are my new favourite book couple . Ok first thing first this is a whole new rewrite for this author . This has such a great twist on the paranormal romance genre. there are twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat and there are some moments that will have you blushing and your kindle might melt , This book is intense and it gave me all the feels , there was moments of light and then dark. I truly enjoyed every second of this book and i couldn't put it down . The characters are so well written and complex you will love them all and want them to be happy . So if you want a story that will give you all the feels and have you reading until the wee hours of the morning . This is the book for you . I so can't wait for the next book in the series . So check it out I promise you will not be disappointed .

Surprisingly unique vampire story
I liked the Amish slant to this vampire tale. It took away a lot of the unessesary blurb about vampires hiding from humans in their community which has been written about so many times. This story was different and interesting. The main characters were good but could have been improved. Annalise seemed a bit selfish at times and I found it strange that she didn't take more personal belongings from her apartment considering she was never coming back e.g. a photo of her mum or other sentimental objects. Adam was ok but needed a bit more oomph - maybe a little less of promising anything for Annalise to bond with him. The secondary characters were varied and supported the story very well. There was too much internal and external dialogue which became a little boring. Also, I was not keen on the twist near the end relating to Adam's brother Cain. I would have liked him to find some resolution to his problems in this book - there were too many loose ends.

Original sin
Amish and vampires.... I'm not sure they are a combination that go well. The background and developing storyline was in good but as soon as the Amish way was dropped in there I felt it shrivelled any romanticism I had. While I moan about it, overall the plots make up for it.

Good but....
Until the last 100 pages or slow it is just so repetitive and slow. I did enjoy the story and a new take on vamps but hybrid take me a while to get through due to the slow burn

Interesting read
I love reading Lydia michaels books! This one proved no different. This book is a creative mix of modern ways and past values. Anna is a wonderful character who just wants love and family.
