Robust and fast back up. Wish it linked to lightroom mobile though.
Easy to manage backing up, with the option to preview and edit files using proprietary software. Wish I could go beyond this though to edit and create jpgs on the drive using lightroom.

Potentially amazing but lacks a few key software features just yet
This has so much potential to be a superb tool for quick video edits in the wild and deserves to be a successful project but if I am honest it's not there just yet software wise. I'd been excited to try and this and so far I'm relatively impressed with it. However I personally wouldn't pay the full price for this in it's current state because it's missing some crucial functions and features for my use of it. Those features though are purely software and can be resolved hopefully. The device is compatible with SD cards micro and regular, USB ports for attaching card reader or hard drives, can even be connected to a PC to use as storage or to transfer backed up footage. You can view and store footage from many sources and watch them back on the phone or tablet. This isn't just a drive its a tiny computer without a screen. If a laptop is too big to carry around this is a great compromise. The editing is functional if a little clunky on a phone, selecting the clips you want isnt quite as good as it could be but its useable. .For me it's lacking some basic features that are a must have if your videos include any kind sound or speech.Editing photos is also possible and from what I can see raw is possible, you have good control over all aspects of the image which as a photographer means I can get the most from a photos with ease (although chances are I would export to my phone or tablet and edit in something else but at least I have that option with the gnarbox).Sound editing: So far it seems you can only have videos without sound together and put some music over the top. What if I have footage of me talking or want the sound included? Not currently possible (or my app is bugged).Sharpening/Structure: Basic feature that is sadly missing, for example my drone footage is shot with particular settings that require sharpening in post, the colour correcting is all there which is awesome but why no sharpening? Some more advanced features it needs in my humble opinion:More advanced sound features like levels on clips etc would be great.Transitions instead being restricted to a jump cut. With those updates I would happily give this 5 stars, its potentially a brilliant piece of kit for my uses. If you're just editing action footage with some music over the top you will be very happy. Anything slightly more advanced you may feel restricted.

Non starter
Mine arrive quickly but was faulty. The battery was past the point that it could accept charge, something that hadnt been checked before sending out. The original manufacturer would not accept it for a replacement under warranty so i am sending it back to amazon and waiing for a refund as they do not offer replacement as far as i can work out.

Great getting greater
Got this through their kickstarter campaign. Totally worth the wait this box is lightning quick and so easy to use. I have loads of photos, GoPro vids and drone footage that I never get round to looking at, this just makes it so easy to sort and edit on the go. Great for traveling and with new features been added weekly it can only get better.

Worth the purchase, with budding potential in the future
I received my GNARBOX after waiting almost 2 years on Kickstarter, while it is still in its infancy and I can see the potential for it in the long run. I hope the team can push out updates quickly to make the editing more rounded, including things like titles, more audio options, copying from phones, support for larger HDD's and maybe even some accessories.I can see this begin used by anyone who goes camping or traveling and wants to be able to do some quick edits to put online, for a slightly more involved video workflow like basic blogs, vlogs etc there is much work to be done by the Dev team at GNARBOX. I can see them ramping up this tho once they have got all the backers products out and it is adopted by many more folks.I do however have one issue is that there wasn't a green lanyard in the box like there are in many of the pictures and videos during the KS project but this is so minor tho.

Works great and improving all the time
I bought one from the states before it was launched on Amazon. I had a problem with the heat sync and they quickly swapped it out. So 5 Star for service. I would have preferred to buy on Amazon because I got a bill from customs on an imported product and shipping costs. Ended up costing more than what Amazon is charging. The company are great to deal with, very informative and ready to help. They are taking ideas and converting them into software that works. Hardware is forever but software changes can happen weekly. Id say the hardware is great and the software is improving all the time. This for me is where it loses a star.Like other reviews here on amazon, I love the idea and I think it will be great. I have some reservations about software at the moment. At least that is being updated all the time. One thing to consider is carrying an external hard drive. I have a 4TB hard drive. I use Gnarbox to swipe all the files for the days fottage then back that up to the External Harddrive. This means that the Gnarbox is a great computer engine when used with my phone but I am backing up all the files to another drive when Im in the field. It means 128GB or 256GB doesnt really matter.
