Bit heavy, more texturizing, pleasant scent
Depending on your needs this is a good product. It has a very light citrus scent that does not stick around. The cream sits pretty heavy in the hair and makes it feel more texturizing and with a soft stiffness but not a hard hold. It is not pleasant to touch with it in the hair but doesn't leave your hair looking like it has a lot of product in it. I would not recommend this for long hair though the description does say so, its just to heavy for lengths IMO though would work well for styling near the crown/head so would be good for styling bangs or shorter styles. This does wash out well though I do feel like you have to use shampoo to get all of it out without leaving any residue. If you want to add some texture, a mild hold and don't plan on having your girl run her hands through your hair this would work well for you. Would recommend for some.I did not experience the quality issue other reviewers mentioned, I found the product to be clean, with no contaminates and the jar comes with a clear 'seal' to doubly ensure air-tightness that you can keep using after opening to help the product last longer.

Not for me, but this is a very good product
Hmmm. This didn't do all that much for me but I'm going to give it a solid five star rating nonetheless, and I'll explain why.I've tested a couple of products from Murdock in the past, including their texture paste and sea salt paste, and I've been very impressed. Everything I've seen from this company has been a cut above anything I'd find in stores. The Hair Play creme is designed for medium to long hair, and as mine is only about 3" long I'm not really the intended audience, so I wasn't expecting much. What I got was a *very* light hold. On my relatively short hair it's more of a texturising product, allowing me to muss up my hair a little and have it kinda stay in place. A stiff breeze would be enough to knock out the style but I could rework it the next time I pass a mirror. The creme has a mild, pleasant scent and a nice creamy, sort of gummy but not at all sticky texture. You don't need to rinse your hands after use to remove any tackiness. I felt like I was using more than I needed as I was trying to increase the hold, but that's probably a mistake. I'll try to train myself to just use a pea sized amount to avoid weighing down my hair.Would I recommend this to someone with short hair? Nah, probably not. It'd be fine it you're aiming for a very natural look that suggests you just ran your fingers through your hair to mess it up a little, though you can achieve that look at a much lower cost. For people with longer hair, though, yeah, I think I would. This stuff will give you a light hold without weighing down your hair, so I'm guessing it would suit long haired folk very well.

Putty spreads well in hair
This is a really nice hair product. It's putty so it's softer than a wax and easy to manipulate in the hair. The putty is easy to spread in hair and it holds the hair well in shape. The lid is easy to turn on and off and the putty has a nice smell. It's a soft smell, and not really recognizable. But it's a nice smell. It's easy to use, even the teen loves it!

Decent hold for shorter hair.
I have shorter hair and have been using a pomade wax with high hold. It's works great for the look, but it doesn't feel all that great to the touch and can clump. So I wanted to try something that perhaps is less waxy feeling but can still hold fairly well. So far so good. It's been holding pretty well but I find that I do have to use a bit more than I normally would with the pomade wax. As the product description suggests, this would be better for people with medium to longer hair.It was easy to apply and wash off which is a nice change from the wax. It has a nice subtle scent that is not overpowering. Wish it was larger as its a little on the smaller size.

Nice hold
Hair Play made this hair clay very well. I used many hair clays, this is definitely a top three. The texture of the clay is not super thick, it is very easy to spread and to apply. The scent is light and delicate. It will hold short and a little bit longer hairs. It will hold in a very natural way, nothing shiny or super sticky. Decent product.

A subtle hair product at best
I’m not entirely sure what this product is supposed to achieve—whether it’s meant to provide style, sheen, or simply a pleasant scent. I’ve attempted to use it on multiple occasions with wet, towel-dried, medium-length hair. Admittedly, I probably applied more than the recommended pea-sized amount.Despite this, I didn’t notice any additional body or hold while working the product through my damp hair. Similarly, there wasn’t any noticeable increase or decrease in sheen. However, the product does smell good—it’s subtle and unobtrusive. For reference, my hair is thick but mostly lacks body; lies flat when medium or longer length and is naturally spikey when short. One thing I did notice was that the front of my part had slightly more height than usual, resembling a subtle nod to Conan O’Brien’s signature hairstyle. Running my fingers through my hair felt slightly more enjoyable, though I’m not entirely sure why—perhaps the product altered the texture just enough to make it feel different.

Great at adding texture but does not provide holding power
This hair clay did a great job of adding some texture without making my hair look like it had product in it. I have long hair and it provided little or no hold, and it doesn't seem like it would provide much hold on short hair either. It has a nice, fresh scent and does not add any shine. I don't think I'd repurchase this again, simply because it's expensive and I'd prefer a product with a little more holding power.
