First thing to say that these pliers are different from the norm. That is to say that they are parallel pliers. When opened and closed the jaws are always parallel to each other. This makes the perfect for gripping items firmly with little or no damage. I have seen other versions of these piers and they do not compare to the Maun pliers. They are robust, very well made and the designers obviously thought about using them over long periods as the handle grips are particularly comfortable. Not for people with above average sized hands, as these are the smaller version. The next size up would suit the larger hands.I would recommend these particular pliers to anyone that needs to hold small items firmly i.e. jewelery etc. Excellent purchase.

Maun 4870 140 Flat Nose Plier 5.1/2In
Pros: Traditionally made, and well made.Cons: Traditionally made. This design would not wear well under continual heavy usage as the pivot points are ordinary thin steel, not heavy tool steel (like the jaws). But this is perhaps churlish...this type of tool is rarely used for heavy work, and is not likely to be used very frequently (except, perhaps, for jewellery making, but that would be very gentle on the pivots), so I would stil expect it to last for ages - and it is a good price !

parallel jaw pliers
There are times when ordinary pliers do not work because when you open them the jaws are at an angle, whereas these are always parallel, come in handy for holding tight nuts when in a hurry. Very well made worth the money & useful for many other jobs

Check the size
These parallel jaw pliers are brilliant at gripping small objects and nuts you don't realise how much better than ordinary pliers till you use them. But check the size as they are very small and a little difficult to use as not spring loaded.

A very nice pair of pliers
These are great. Well made, and British. Comfortable to use, and just generally "nice"A great addition to any toolbox.

Very good pliers
These pliers are very well made and very sturdy, and should see a lot of service. The parallel action is particularly useful, especially for turning nuts where normal pliers are inclined to slip off. I would have preferred the jaws to open a little more than they do, so I will probably be investing in a pair of the 61/2 in ones.
