this has to be one of the best if not the best vacuum on the market currently
rated as the best vacuum in many categories from rtings.com, most notably pet hair, i bought it on their recommendation alone because i love the guys. and its a beast. i actually kind of ENJOY vacuuming with this thing, just because ive never had a cordless experience before this vacuum, either. i tested against my robot vacuum, which ofc doesnt get everything a proper vacuum will get, but also against my previous corded vacuum, and still, it grabs plenty. anti-tangle head, the head with the light on it is a game changer for non carpet (hardwood, tile, etc) surfaces. the design is minimal, well thought out, and its easy to swap stuff around. finally, a vacuum where you actually care about the different attachments and use them. its just so easy and powerful.BUT, nothings perfect. none of this stops me from giving it 5 stars, the vacuum is that good, but one thing ALMOST did get me to do it, and well start with that first:and that, is that this vacuum DOES try to speed up and slow down depending on what is happening. if it detects more dust, or detects that the airflow has slowed down (because you just went on to thicker carpet, or if something is blocking the pipe, etc), it will of course speed up to continue vacuuming well. the issue though? on some carpet, even if nothing of particular note is going on, it will actually keep speeding up to the point where it will completely stop. as in, the roller will stop spinning, and its quite annoying, particularly because the specific carpet in my case, that im talking about, doesnt even seem that thick or anything. it just randomly bogs itself down until it stops. seems like a pretty bad issue. but thankfully, in my case, after changing the software settings on its sensitivity to the lowest, and ALSO moving the "switch" on the carpet head to the one that allows the most airflow, it doesnt happen anymore. so im basically a happy camper. BUT, i could definitely see these changes not actually helping if your carpet is thick or "weird" enough. whats not in the options, is the ability to turn off the adapting system. that would be very helpful for people with this kind of carpet.its also not that light. i was hoping it would be lighter, and of course the battery is going to be heavy and theres not much you can do that other than completely innovating a new type of battery (which people are working on), i still thought it would be lighter even without the battery. but its not a big deal.the only thing its missing is automatic drive (so it will push itself, mostly for older folks). and again, i understand thats a mostly unreasonable ask because were talking about a battery operated device here. it just sucks because, if it had that, theres pretty much nothing it doesnt do, and very well. i have a golden retriever, and for anyone in the know about these doggos, their hair shedding is among the worst, at least for its type. i honestly didnt believe the anti-tangle brush would work - but it does! it has not tangled a single time yet, and ive put it through its paces in spite of only having it a few months so far.still likely the best vacuum in existence right now. if you need the best, and dont have extra thick carpet, dont even look further - especially if you have a dog.

performance
This is , without doubt , the most powerful vacuum cleaner (corded or cordless) that I have ever used , period. This model is a little heavier than I would like . My wife would have trouble using it because of it , so I do vacuum time , lol. After a few months of using it , I never have had to use the maximum power at all and just the medium setting is way more than sufficient .Otherwise , it is magnificent . It also looks great and very importantly , the sound it makes when working is very pleasing , which I like very much .Emptying it is great , with no residue left while doing it . It is clear that a lot of time and effort was invested on the design of this thing .In summary , it is an expensive machine but if you don`t mind the weight (on this model) , it is well worth it .I hope with proper care for it , it would last me for many years .

Best vacuum I have ever owned!
This is the best vacuum I have ever owned, period! I noticed the difference the first time I used it on my wood floors. I was so done with buying cordless vacuum cleaners and robot vacuum cleaners that were not doing the job. I did some research and decided on the Dyson. It is so easy to operate, so obvious that it is working while you are cleaning (you can actually feel the suction power when cleaning a rug!), it is relatively quiet for the power it has, and you can run it for a long time before having to recharge. The price scared me at first, but the performance is well worth the money. I'm hoping to get many years out this product. Thank you!

Amazing suction, a bit heavy.
I just upgraded from the Dyson V8 to this one and I am absolutely hooked. You can feel the suction power. I love seeing the run time according to the settings as it helps me pace myself as I vacuum. The trash release is easy, I just wish I could close it back up with the same lever instead of having to touch the bottom. The only con is the weight. It is a little heavy for me and i find myself having to switch hands after vacuuming for a while.

They won't provide parts once it's a couple years old, they want you to buy a new one.
I have a VS22 that's just a few months out of warranty and after troubleshooting with a customer service agent, determined that it needs a new main body. Unfortunately, there are no main bodys for this machine available, no indication of when they'll be available, and for three weeks now the dust builds up on my floor.I have a $700 vacuum that after only two years is dead and unrepairable. The service agent was happy to offer me 20% off a new unit, or to push me off to a local repair shop. I find this frustrating, knowing that even if the exact model detect main body isn't on a shelf somewhere, a newer detect main body that is perfectly compatible with the battery and all the parts must be- since I can apparently buy one in a new unit. In truth, who would expect a company to continue manufacturing old models- new models are subsequently manufactured with some degree of backward compatibility. That seems to be the case (new models are technically backwards compatible), but that is beneficial only to manufacturing and not extended to the benefit of post-purchase servicability. We love this Dyson vacuum, it worked so well up until it died. I expected that by paying a premium for a quality fantastically designed machine it would have support to go with it. The lack of product support, and what appears to be a business model of non-servicable (disposable) vacuums (when it breaks, buy a new one) is disappointing. And for a company calling itself one that embraces sustainability, forcing me to buy a new pile of plastic parts, attachments and battery when simply a single part (the main body) would do, is contradictory to that claim.I wrote because the service agent suggested this could help. If there is a way I can purchase only what I need to get the vacuum working, that'd be great. I don't need all the other parts, and I don't want to spend $700 for another two years of vacuuming bliss- if that's the limit of reliability for this machine.
