2 | The 3D Tablet Redefined by AI

This is the future. Full HD quality 3D without glasses!!! It's hard to explain without seeing it, but if you've gone to 3D movies in the theater or used the Nintendo 3DS you'll have some idea. The 3D effect can vary in quality depending on the content, but at times it can look almost like a hologram, it's unreal. They have 3D photos, videos, movies you can rent, even games (though the app store is not large). You can even take your own 5K 3D photos with this, and the quality is excellent. Beyond the native 3D content, the tablet can also do 2D to 3D conversion and it works quite well. Definitely not as good as real 3D, but it can look pretty good sometimes. You can either load video files (such as mp4, etc.) onto the tablet and convert them, or use one of the supported social media websites. Though services like Netflix are not supported in 3D due to DRM, you can view content from YouTube, Vimeo, and (surprisingly) PornHub, among others. Some of the games can look pretty good and have a lot more depth than video content, though the app store is rather small compared to the image/video content available. That said, even without the 3D, you can use it as a normal Android tablet, and access the Google Play Store, use apps like Netflix, Crunchyroll, 2D games, etc. and everything works fine. The hardware specs are rather beefy, top end chipset and 120Hz screen, probably one of the top 5 tablets you can buy at any price (comparable to Apple or Samsung). Really one of the biggest innovations in consumer electronics in the past 10 years, you won't be disappointed with this.

I absolutely love 3D, and when I saw the ad for the Lume Pad 2, I knew I had to jump on that train. I bought it a couple of weeks later, and WOW! My first impressions of the glasses-free lightfield display: gobsmacked. The 3D is adjustable, and when at the right angle, it looks like a hologram projector! The functionality is great! Not only does it function as a 3D tablet, but it has full access to the Google play store and can run in 2D as well. It has a flagship (for 2020) Snapdragon 888 chip and it flies through everything I throw at it. It has a 120hz display, so the interface feels snappy and keeps up with what I want to use it for. My favorite thing to do on it is 3D camera photography, 3D modeling and converting 2D YouTube videos to 3D with AI using LeiaTube. The conversion and the 3D depth added to videos is so convincing that I forget that the YouTube videos were recorded in 2D in the first place. As for value for money, the Lume Pad 2 originally sold for $1,200 new, and now it's $500. If you are on the fence on purchasing this tablet, DO IT. Don't let the negative reviews get you confused. The 3D is great and it has a very premium chassis with great speakers as well that support Dolby Atmos. It is not gimmicky, and deserves to be mainstream even though VR has taken over the market in the 3D segment. This tablet has a history of selling out on Amazon so I'd advise potential buyers to purchase it while it is significantly less expensive than the original MSRP. You never know when it's too late to buy, and such a great tablet needs recognition where it is due. Also, support Leia as well. The company has removed 2 apps from the Leia app store: LeiaFlix and Leia Dream. If enough people support them, they might bring back apps that they took away and even make more because of popular demand. If you want this technology to improve and Leia to continue making tablets (a potential Lume Pad 3), then buying this tablet to support the company will surely help them out. If you are on the fence about this, GO FOR IT. If you love glasses-free 3D, get it. You will not be dissappointed.

This is a great tablet that does three things better than any device I have seen. 3D Movie Viewing: It allows for viewing 3D movies on a high-resolution screen. Movies, especially animated ones, look beautiful here. I have never experienced 3D in these resolutions within a comfortable and portable package. 3D Model Viewing: It's the best way to view 3D models, period! Leiaviewer is a straight-up hologram viewing app. You can view many beautiful models you find on the internet as if they are in the same space as you. Affordable 3D Conversion: It's the best solution for cheap 3D conversion on the fly. While it is not perfect, being able to convert 2D images and videos to 3D on the fly really gives a whole new way of looking at images and videos you might have otherwise seen a million times. The only thing I should warn you about is that if you are planning on viewing your own original 3D content (stuff that you shot and edited), you need to make sure it fits with the kind of screen Leia provides. Improperly prepared 3D pictures and videos might still look fine on a VR headset, but they will certainly not look fine here. So, I would suggest learning how to properly create stereo videos and images before importing them on this tablet for viewing.

Beim Hersteller ist das LumePad2 ja wesentlich teurer (ich sehe allerdings gerade, dass das LumePad2 heute, 27.10.2024, bei Amazon gerade nicht angeboten wird. Meins kam im Juli 2024 - gut dass ich seinerzeit zugeschlagen habe), dazu kommt, dass man sich selbst ggf. um einen Rückversand nach USA hätte kümmern müssen. Von einem Rückversand bin allerdings WEIT entfernt, ich würde das LumePad 2 nicht mehr hergeben wollen, weil die Ergebnisse der Darstellung überwältigend sind. Ich war immer schon eim Fan von Glassesless 3d. Meine ersten dauerhaften Erfahrungen hatte ich mit einem Morphus X300 gemacht und war davon schon begeistert. Jenes Tablet war ziemlich klein, nur sehr kurz am Markt und Support schien es dann auch keinen zu geben, schade wegen einiger Softwaremängel und dann auch eines Hardwareschadens; aber es konnte Bilder und auch Videos von meiner Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W3 direkt anzeigen, wenn auch nur auf einem 7" Screen - es hatte dafür aber keine eigene 3D Kamerafunktion. Das LumePad2 hier kann die Fotos meiner Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W3 problemlos anzeigen; kleiner Wermutstropfen: die Videos müssen leider erst extern umgesetzt werden. DAFÜR wiederum hat das LumePad eine eigene 3 D Kamerafunktion, die Videos und Fotos native aufnimmt.. Der Bildschirm ist vergleichsweise "riesig", und durch die Dicke des Gerätes ist der Sound auch im Bässe-Bereich wirklich nicht übel. Für guten Sound gibt's aber natürlich Bluetooth. USB-Anschluss, WLAN und ein Slot für eine handelsübliche MicroSD Karte sind "natürlich" vorhanden und funktionieren gut und schnell. Was auch -nach etwas "Fummelarbeit- gut funktioniert ist die drahtlose Screen-Übertragung von Gaming-PCs mit NVIDIA Grafikkarten auf das LumePad 2, die dann im 3D Modus dargestellt wird. Das klappt sogar für Spiele, die diese Funktion offiziell gar nicht unterstützen, etwa "BATMAN Arkham Asylum". Der Akku hält recht lange durch, am meisten wird er wohl belastet, wenn man direkt aus dem Web heraus (eigentlich 2D-) YT-Videos in 3D Videos umwandelt - mit meist erstaunlich gutem Ergebnis. Leider scheinen die umgewandelten Videos aber nicht auf dem LumePad dauerhaft abgelegt zu werden. Schön auch, dass es so gut wie keine Bloatware in der Auslieferung gibt. Die vom Hersteller mitgelieferte 3D-Software deckt eigentlich fast alles Nötige ab, allerdings hat man die AI-Lösung zum Erstellen eigener Bilder per AI offenbar inzwischen abgeschaltet - naja. Ansonsten bietet das LumePad 2 natürlich alles, was ein normales Android Tablet auch bietet, und das auf einem doch recht üppigen Bildschirm. Das Originalzubehör vom Hersteller erscheint mir - ehrlich gesagt - SEHR teuer (und wenn dann noch P&P draufkommt). Es kommen aber jetzt so langsam z.B. Schutzhüllen fürs LumePad 2 von Herstellern, die schon für iPads sehr gute Produkte fertigen. Da ich meins nicht ganz ohne Schutz lassen wollte, habe ich mir seinerzeit eine dann verfügbare Hülle bestellt, die vom Feeling und vor allem von der Geruchsentwicklung "nicht ganz so schön" war; die Geruchsbelästigung hat sich aber nach einigen Wochen gegeben. Also: Augen auf beim Zubehör-Kauf. FAZIT: Wer gerne 3D Bilder und File "glassesless" betrachtet/herumzeigen möchte, ist mit dem LumePad 2 sehr gut bedient, es ist aber vielleicht nicht unbedingtein "Gerät für die Massen"; insofern ist der im Juli von Amazon aufgerufene Preis (auf den auch nochmal P&P kam) "gerade noch angemessen". Stabilitätsprobleme habe ich mit dem LumePad 2 bisher so gut wie nicht gehabt. Nicht zu vergessen: Es GIBT Support über die Websitze bzw. das LumePad 2 Forum, wo richtiger Support vom Hersteller und auch durchaus wertvolle Erfahrungsberichte und HowTos von anderen Usern zu finden sind.

It does suffer from a bit of ghosting but if you can get past that the 3D effect is great, and at it's new reduced price I can recommend it. The official case is hard to track down, it's worth reaching out to the company directly as I did to obtain one.

El terminal es bueno. Me llegó bien a pesar de una larga espera. Aún no lo he probado lo suficiente como para opinar completamente, a medida que vaya haciéndolo quizás le añada una estrella más o se las suprima todas, ya veremos. Ok ya está probado y el producto es bueno, viene con android 12L y no creo que llegue a actualizarse. Las actualizaciones de Leia se hacen esperar, van muy lentos en su tienda particular apenas hay productos. El 3D deja que desear y las aplicaciones de la propia Leia son poco configurables. En fin, el 3D es algo limitado, pero como tablet no está del todo mal, hay que remitirse a la tienda de Google para bajarse aplicaciones.

Super, nach Jahren kann ich endlich meine 3D Fotos und Videos von meinem defekten HTC Evo 3D wieder anschauen! <3 Dabei fällt auf, dass die jetzigen 3D Fotos und Videos eine viel bessere Qualität haben, bin begeistert und werde es vielleicht noch mit der neuen Version 2024 vergleichen!

The 3d display looks like a hologram, it’s fairly good, but my eyes can’t use it for long periods of time. Also the resolution when in 3d is not amazing, you will notice the pixelation and text is very grainy. The 2D to 3D conversion engine is excellent. It’s a novel toy, but not for everyday use.
