Works Great
After months of using the device, I am very happy with it.It is easy to install (it even has a small screwdriver integrated into itself), it fits perfectly. And it works very well, no issues whatsoever.

Very handy item
This functions very well as a receptacle for a second hdd used to store data in my Dell Latitude e5400. Couldn't get it to boot from this drive, but I think that's an issue with the laptop in question, not the caddy. Was easy to install and remove, but removal might prove rather more difficult in some laptops because the caddy has no release mechanism built in. On the whole I'm very satisfied with it at the price.

reduces wide SATA power to 2-wires
It fits into my Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF (Small Form Factor), which got delivered with one DVD drive and 2.5" SSD (inserted with special tray into the slot for 3.5" drive). I wanted to add another big disk, and did not quite needed the DVD anymore (all boots from USB these days just fine). My idea - remove DVD, move the 2.5" drive into the slot for DVD, use the freed space to insert a new 3.5" rotational hard drive.I got advised to just use the double side tape for the 2.5" drive. But I wanted to do it neatly and so the dust does not get in. After some tries and errors, I ordered this one, and it had the correct size (there are also "slim optical drive" versions with 9-and-something inch of height - this one is higher and properly fits into my slot). Mind you, this is advertised as for "laptops", but it fits nicely into Dell Optiplex workstation. So all worked, but I have 3 problems with it:1) blanking plate is not provided - you either have a hole for all dust to be sucked in, or (as I did), transplant the faceplate from your DVD drive. It says "DVD" on the front now, and has the eject button, which does nothing :)2) the SATA connector inside the caddy is soldered at a slight angle - it's not perfectly leveled. This look a little bit odd, but it's the SSD, platers don't rotate, so perfect angle does not matter that much. I saw one of the reviewers complained about it (and even provided photos)3) the SATA connector inside converts the wide SATA power plug into the small one (because it's meant to be inserted into a laptop, which probably has only one power cord for the power connection - or there is no cord at all. Well, in my workstation, I wanted to use the 2nd wide SATA power connector, but I cannot. I would appreciate if it had BOTH, or at least give a pass-through to the physical drive inside, so I can reach into there with appropriately longer cable. Apparently the wider power cable is better for the disk and power saving. I gave up on the idea of cutting a hole in the caddy. So summarizing - I spend almost 10 quid on something that is not perfect anyway, and using double side tape could give you the same effect. Subtracting one star for it. Otherwise I'm fine with the purchase.

Perfect Fit ☆ Quality Product
Used with HP Probook (12.7mm version) - at this price, expected either be loose, or require knocked in with a mallet, but near-perfect fit. Old rear mount clip (two screws) and front blend (two clips either side) from previous drive removed and added without problem, flawless function. Absolutely recommend, bring new life to laptops with under used optical drives - a pleasing product.

Acceptable
It was easy to install to my laptop but still not of good quality. It seems like not a great product. Couple times, I have to reinstall it. Sometimes it get disconnected. It might be my computer but still I never had any othe issue with my device so I think it is the product.

Poor quality
Very poor quality build and does not fit into the slot it’s designed for. I had to take one of the covers off to squeeze it in. Not recommended.

I spent ages looking at the shed loads of caddies that all look pretty much the same to identify one that would definately fot my laptop and in the end took a punt on this as it looked like it would fit.Not all the caddies have screws to fix the drive in, many just wedge it in with a plastic clip. This caddy has both the plastic clip and also two screws which are already inserted into their threads and a screw driver included, these along with plastic clip and SATA plug secure the drive in place perfectly. The caddy fits my HP 250 G1 laptop perfectly, in fact I have ordered another two caddies! as I have another HP 250 G1 and also an HP Envy M6 which is the same fitting so will also fit. To install into a HP 250 G1 - pre assembly the drive in the caddy, remove the battery, in the battery compartment there is a single screw which holds on a small plastic cover, remove this to reveal 2 more screws holding in a second plastic cover, remove this to reveal a single screw which holds the CD drive in via a bracket attached to the rear of the CD drive. Pull on the plastic facia gently to remove the CD drive, remove the metal bracket from the rear of the CD drive and attach to the rear of the caddy (screw holes line up perfect), slide drive in, screw bracket in place, replace covers and battery. You then need to boot up the laptop and Windows will say it's found a new drive and drivers installed correctly. Now open up Windows Explorer, right click on Computer, choose Manage and Disk Management, use this to mount the drive, to give the drive a name (if required) and to format. I fitted mine with a 2TB 9.5mm Samsung drive. You cant yet buy these drives as drives, but you can buy them by buying a Seagate BUP enclosure, splitting it open and taking the drive out.

Converted a Bluray drive SATA connection to a SSD SATA connector.
I used this product to attach an SSD to a Dell Inspiron One's Blueray drive connector as a second drive so that I could upgrade the system by cloning the existing HD. This was very straight forward and did the job. When the job was complete I replaced the HD with the SSD and reconnected the Blueray drive, but I can use the caddy adaptor again to perform the same procedure in another PC.

Great solution
It allows you to add a 2nd sata hdd/ssd to your laptop. I converted a older laptop to a casaOS home server. Works!

SOLUCION PERFECTA

Quality vs Economy vs Form Factor
Well, I bought 2 of these QUMOX branded caddies (on the left of the pic) when I found an unbranded caddy for 30% cheaper. So I bought one!It was only when I opened them up that I realized that the cheaper one was thinner and more suited to the newer laptop/notebook form factor. The QUMOX is 12.7mm thick and more suited to SFF PC or older laptops. The generic one had no info in the specs at the time I purchased it.Packaging is very similar though the smaller one on the right hand side has less plastic. All have the same stickers on the caddies. Both have a screwdriver included. The generic also comes with screws. So I think they are made in the same factory and if you choose to buy one, then make sure you get the right thickness.
