Good phone
I replaced an older V-Tech with this model and am equally pleased. I love the lighted key pad and it has been easy to set up. The date and time installed automatically. It was relatively simply to set up the answering machine voice mail, ringer volumes, number of rings, etc. ADjusting the voice volumes was a bit more challenging. Two issues: the description says it comes with and uses 3 AAA batteries, wrong! It uses the same crappy 2.4V batteries that are described as "rechargable." I guess that means in the charger and I hope so because they are really hard to find in battery stores and those ordered online do not seem to last very long even when the handset is in the charger most of the time. V-Tech has consistently been a good cordless phone for me and this one is no different. NOTE TO AMAZON: Stop using the USPS for last mile delivery, my box arrived torn open, the contents had obviously been rummaged through and replaced but everything seems to be there and working. This is not the first damaged, pilfered package I have received when delivered by USPS.

the new set works fine. I put the previous set away to use ...
This is the second set, close to identical to the first set I ordered years ago, and chosen this time specifically since it did NOT have lots of "new and improved" features for me to spend time learning. The only reason I got the new set is that I believed that the "message alert" feature on the previous one was no longer working, but now I'm not absolutely sure that was true. A hint I got from Vtech after I'd already ordered the new set was to try shutting the base set off completely, and then re-booting it to see if this would reactivate the message alert function. Anyway, the new set works fine. I put the previous set away to use as a temporary backup if/when this new one finally goes belly-up. I especially like the nice loud speakerphone function on the handsets, which helps my old ears understand whomever it is I'm speaking with. I gave Vtech a bit of feedback, urging them to keep this specific product line available without adding lots of bells and whistles, even though they may offer other lines with additional features.

Nice house phone
With cell phones being primary use now days I did not want to spend a lot of money for a house phone. I was pleased with this purchase, it has a nice blue backlight and easy to use with large buttons. I like that there are 3 units and we could place them in several rooms, the satellite units are easily moved from room to room as needed for example my mom prefers a land line so we move one from our basement and place in the guest room when she comes to visit and its just a simple plug in. This phone does offer a mute option which has come in handy several times with little ones running in the background and the answering machine is old school and easy to use stop, play, delete etc. My only cons would be you can not add additional satellite phones to this system as needed and they are easily knocked out of their charging cradle.

So far they're great.
I've had these installed for several days and they're performing very well.In reality, you're getting four phones since the base operates as a phone itself. The setup is very easy to follow. The screens are nice and clear, the ringer and handset volumes have great ranges and the calls are clear. The initial call that I made from the base speaker phone was nice and clear and I was told it was the same on the other end too (the person even remarked that they could usually tell when someone is on a speaker phone but couldn't tell with this phone). The buttons and functions are easily navigated.I've had several different brands of cordless phones over the years including AT&T, Panasonic and Uniden and to me, V-Tech seem to be the best in form and functionality. If you could use a three handst system, I would definitely recommend these phones.

VTech CS5159-3 3-Handset
Overall I like this 3-handset. The features are pretty much the same as my old VTech set. I ordered them because I had a similar set for over ten years that wasn't charging. What I a problem with is the handset is bigger and not as well made and when looking for past calls the response time is slower (even when calling out). I received this phone a few days before moving some things out of the home so my biggest problem is that I accidentally threw the instructions away, so I can't finish setting up the answering machine, call rings, etc. Is there any way I can get another copy. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks

I’m stuck with it but you don’t have to be!
I have to say that these work very well. The product description was accurate. With that said, I don’t like them. More difficult to use than my old defunct ones. They don’t have a one button call block. The dialing numbers tone and ringer tone is frightening! And lastly, I went out online to the company to get help setting up the phone, they don’t even have this phone listed on their product page! Not listing for it at all!!! Like they never made it!!!I am stuck with it, but you don’t have to be.
