Took a chance on this one.
My previous experience with the Mega Man franchise was with '9' on the Xbox360. I couldn't get past the first level of the demo. So, why not read a manga based off of it? After all, it isn't going to become difficult to read and deny me further content. It's really good! After this I bought the next two volumes of 'Megamix' and all three of 'Gigamix', which continues after this. They are all equally as excellent. It consists of three stories which detail Mega Man being created to his first battle with Dr Wily and so forth. The main antagonist of the series, Dr Wily is a lovable jerk and makes a great villain. That being said, all the characters are very likeable in this series. They're well-written, funny and seem quite sincere in the story. If you suck at the games (or you're a superior gamer who happens to be a fan of the franchise or just new to manga) this is a great place to start! I'm half inspired to play the games now because the villains are that cool!Signing off.

A gem of a series
I absolutely loved this, as a fan of megaman it did the classic series justice. I loved the characterization given to Doctor Wily in this as well. For any megaman this series along with Gigamix is well worth picking up. Its a shame capcom hasn't treated the blue bomber so well in recent days what with canceling many good games such as legends 3 and universe so this manga is a little gem in these dark times for the megaman series.

A very pleasant surprise
I've been a Mega Man fan for a few months now, and i just had to get this manga. At first, i had inhibitions, and wasn't really expecting much of it. I was very pleasantly surprised. This book is not only a must have for Mega Man fans, it is a great manga in and of itself! The book contains Hitoshi Ariga's original takes on the first two games of the series, and a spin off of the third. His interpretation of the games storylines takes on a more serious tone than would be expected, and he pulls it off with aplomb. The stories have drama and comedy, and plenty of action; entertaining throughout. His takes on the characters are sometimes different to other interpretations, but they dont suffer for it. In fact, they just serve to make the cast more varied. The great stories are also complemented by the author/artists stylish art and 'cool' looking redesigns of the characters.I was also pleased with the inclusion of character profiles at the back of the book. You can really see the effort that the author put into his own version of the Mega Man world when you read the detailed descriptions of each character. An interview with Keiji Inafune and the author discussing Mega Man is also included. In it, Hitoshi Ariga asks questions about the design process in the Mega Man games, and about other finer points on the series. Another great extra, great for big Mega Man fans like me.This manga is a great take on the Mega Man world, and its stylish to boot. Its a great treat for Mega Man fans, and fans of manga (especially the 'Shonen' genre) in general. It looks good, reads well, and has more than just the comic contained within. A big thanks from me to Hitoshi Ariga for creating this manga, and UDON entertainment for publishing it in english! Now, i just cant wait for the next volume.

Fantastically brilliant!
I have been a Mega Man fan for as long as I can remember, and when I found out about the Ariga manga, I was counting the years before it was released in English, and here we are!I can't help but feel biased when I say this is a brilliant read simply because it's Mega Man, but what it does is re-invent the storyline and give each Robot Master an individual personality which gives the whole thing a refreshing look and feel.If you're the most avid fan or a newcomer to Mega Man, this will be a great buy and keep you wanting more, which is lucky for us with another couple of volumes to come..Enjoy!
