Just amazing
This market is getting crowded with devices that do a bit of everything but Rode carve a really quality niche. For something that does so much it makes the user interface very intuitive and teh sound and capabilities are stunning. Still learning things to do with it

A great upgrade from the GoXLR
If you're here it's likely you want to upgrade your GoXLR. I use the RodeCaster on a two PC setup, it was little more fiddly to set up but once you dial it in the experience is great and it is PACKED with features. The only thing missing is the full range of virtual audio inputs. Currently I can't separate my System sounds when it comes to Main PC sound and music from Spotify. The rumour is that this will soon be added with a software update, so here's hoping.

fabulous kit
What a lovely piece of kit this is. & what a nice change that it makes it so easy to set up. I am so fed with massive instruction manuals that i can't read. It almost kind of talks you through it . ok so maybe some of the finer details need further exploring , but i was up & running in 10 minutes. Fabulous product

Wasn’t brand new
I’m not sure what to put here. It was a Rodecaster 2, but I read another review on here that made me keep a lookout when it arrived. The box outer sleeve had a rip in it, the security seal had already been removed, some of the cables had odd looking zip ties & inside the box there was a checklist signed by 2 separate people to verify that the machine was working. The checklist I thought was either a) Something I’d never seen in a brand new package before and a way of showing people at Rode wanted to show their spot checks. Or b) it was some sort of checklist to verify a returned model works and can go back out to be sold.To check this I went on the Rode website and bought one via the links on their site (for £10 less) - via Wex, but I prefer to use Amazon. This box arrived with the sleeve normal, with the tamper seal on it & no checklist inside. So unfortunately although yep it was probably a fully working, perhaps refurbed model, for the amount these things cost that didn’t sit right with me and shouldnt be sold as such. If it wasn’t for the other review on here saying similar I probably would have overlooked this and I think if it had said pre-owned, that’s fine.I’m sure it’s a great machine still with all the checks etc and it could be only happening to a few of them (it does say from the Rode store) but I would have preferred some honesty on the listing after paying full price.

Produces lots of good noise, but also produces a lot of bad noise
Picked this up to replace my aging GoXLR, and this device is a significant step up in almost every way. Manages to push my 250Ohm DT1770 pros without breaking a sweat, and as someone who makes good use of the soundboard, having 48 "smart pads" (8 pages of 6 buttons) at my disposal has been great, things like the custom sounds for the censor button are a lot of fun, but there have been a couple shortcomings, some more significant than others. One minor gripe that I haven't seen many other people talk about is with said censor button. Unlike the GoXLR, which will only mute the microphone input when holding the censor button, the RODECaster will mute every single output, on all output channels. This seems sensible at first, since the RODECaster has multiple microphone inputs, and it stands to reason that one would want to mute all of the microphones with the censor button to avoid any profanity leaking into the audio mix via someone else's mic, but it also mutes other audio (game audio, voice comms, music) to the broadcast mix, as well as the headphones. An option to select which devices are affected by the censor feature would be nice. Also, a lack of sleep option is bothersome as someone who has their desk in their bedroom. While the device does have an option to dim the lights and display after a certain period of inactivity, there is no way to turn off the lights and display automatically, and the only way to do this manually is to power off the interface entirely. This wouldn't seem to be a problem on the surface for most use cases, but for some reason the device can backfeed current into my PC, causing all of my peripherals to light up anyway. This is apparently a quirk in the way that power negotiation is handled by the USB standard, and can be fixed by using a USB hub in between the PC and the interface, but I shouldn't have to buy more hardware to fix flaws in what was a £425 audio interface at the time of purchase. That leads me onto my biggest issue of them all. The noise. When I first set up the device and put on my headphones, there was this horrific buzzing/crackling/hissing noise, which persisted no matter what output (both 1/4" rear headphone jacks, both speaker jacks, and the front 1/8" jack) I plugged the headphones into. Apparently RODE were very proud of the preamps and other electronics that they used for their inputs (which, to be fair, are great), but seemed to entirely cheap out on the outputs. This was almost a deal-breaker, but after some research decided to pick up a relatively inexpensive ground-loop isolator, which removed the hiss entirely with an imperceptible effect on volume/audio quality.Overall, a great audio interface, but loses a star due to the fact that I've already had to buy extra hardware to deal with the audio hissing, with a potential third purchase of a USB hub to fix the power backfeeding issue, both of which are barely acceptable in a device that costs over £400.

Expensive but worth it
If you into podcasting, streaming, making music or just wanna make prank calls then Then this is for you.. However I would say when I bought this I didn't realise how big it would be so if space is an issue for you then the Duo should work fine

“Whisperboy podcast” recommends buying this item
The media could not be loaded. We purchased this machine for our podcast “The Whisperboy Podcast” and we are relatively satisfied with it. You can expect low hum, high treble, and medium bass. This machine is capable of making your voice sound rich and radio quality too if you know what you’re doing. Currently this machine is the best in its class. Bit pricey but it will be worth it in the end. The best thing about this machine is the fact that it balances audio levels up and makes the voice sound better.Update: the machine’s recording disappears and we have not been able to resolve the issue. The Australian customer service has not been helpful and referred us to the UK customer service and they asked us to send the machine to them :(

So far, so good.
The install was easy. It pushes enough gain to both an SM7b and Mv7. Works great with re20 as well. PD-70 sounds amazing with the duo caster as well.

I love it, but I hate it at the same time
(Review updated June 4, 2023)When it comes to anything technical about the device: if you can't find it on the site, safe to just assume they won't tell you. Sometimes it would be nice to know just a little more about the internals but each time I ask I'll get a generic response about not being able to provide this information. For a technical product this is a bit of a bummer and I hope that changes and they become more open with developers. This includes innocent things like what Bluetooth codecs it supports. They've built this on the hard work of others who contributed to opensource software and Linux but Rode themselves are currently not so eager to do the same. They have many YouTube videos showing the insides and features, but it's all secretly just self-promotion bragging about how revolutionary everything is and how they've started from the ground up.WITH THAT SAID they're one of few companies that actually pick up a phone and talk to you. So while they may not give me the technical details I want, at least they're not completely hidden from view and impossible to reach. The people you can reach by phone have always been friendly.UPDATES AND BETA FIRMWAREThis has a lot going for it as an almost standalone unit. The vendor is still releasing updates regularly, and even without the updates it works right out of the box. However I really wish they would be more open about the technical stuff. To get at most of the fun stuff, you'll need to run the BETA firmware they offer. If you run this, they won't even attempt to support you or accept your bug reports.BLUETOOTHThe Bluetooth (when connected to mobile) stays connected but after many hours the actual audio portion of it crashes. Because everything like logs are hidden from view you'll never know why. The only way to get audio back is restarting the device. I've tried several Android phones at this point and all the same issue. The "Disconnect Bluetooth" button on the RCP becomes non-responsive. The audio supported by Bluetooth is basic, low quality and has a lot of latency as you would expect when using the cheapest possible Bluetooth hardware. If you plan to use Bluetooth for mobile audio I would just reconnect it at the start of each day and you're likely fine. For me this is annoying because I forget to do this and it's only a matter of time till the connection drops. If you need better audio from a mobile device just connect it directly using the audio inputs.ACCESSORIESGetting your hands on accessories (like the dust cover) is was nearly impossible in Canada except as a special order item or shipping from cross-boarder. Might I suggest B&H (who I believe also might sell on here).SLIDERSOverall the sliders feel great but I think they missed the boat when omitting motorized sliders like other streaming products. They're ahead of others by featuring nice metal components here but regardless there's something magical about seeing them move on their own.NETWORKED: BUT IT'S NOT FOR YOUIt's online for whatever reason (firmware updates supposedly needing this 24/7 online access... what?) but there's zero fun you can have with that. You can't control anything remotely, there's no public API, and basically zero information about it. If you ask about it you'll get a canned response. If you want to do anything using their software it'll take place over USB and proprietary software.LINUX SUPPORTAs of Ubuntu 23.04 I was able to get both Main and Chat working with Pulse at the same time without needing extra hardware or hacks. I don't know who to thank for this since Rode won't comment, but a huge thank you to whoever solved this!

¡Excelente producto!
