Very surprised at the refurbished quality of the tablet.
Honestly if I didn’t know that this Fire 7 was refurbished I would think this was a brand new tablet. Out of the box is a pristine screen with no scratches and a pristine casing, wrapped in a plastic cover. The tablet comes in a brown Amazon box, with a cable and power supply, and a manual, but I guess that is to signify that it is a refurbished item.Regardless the tablet works great as expected for the budget price range. I’m not expecting super duper uber fast operations on this with turning on, loading apps and navigation like my 120Hz iPhone 15 Pro, but it’s not sluggishly slow like a general sub-£300 budget tablet after a few installs. Memory is limited on the tablet but there is an SD card slot available to add much more. The tablet comes with USB-C as well.The apps available are somewhat limited compared to Google’s Play Store - no Google apps on this - but I was able to find some red and white “apps” which allow access to YouTube without needing to tinker with the tablet. Most third party apps are available on the Fire app store as the operating system is based on Android, so should work properly on the tablet.This is perfect as a tablet for kids, there are loads of intuitive parental controls on the tablet which you can use to control the usage for the kids. The only thing which would have made it perfect would be the ability to use parental controls with the Amazon app on my phone, without requiring to do it directly on the tablet itself.

Bought very cheaply refurbished. Easy to load a "different" app store and download apps. Kindle function very good. Excellent value for the price. Ads not a problem either, you just see one as you unlock your screen.

Use as a reader.
Bought this as a reader, it's small, light and easy to change the reading style.You can download the Libby app from Amazon store and reader library books for free.Download your books, switch on airplane mode and get good battery life.

It worked
I was apprehensive being a refurbished Tablet. Now I am glad I did. Looks brand new, worked when I switched it on. I use it every day. Most important is that the batter life is excellent.

Operating system lets it down
Got to say, I'm really not a fan of the operating system on this, feels really clunky to navigate. Product itself is decent though, with good battery life and build quality - so if you can stand Amazon's own OS then you may be in luck.

For the money I shouldn't be surprised
Don't get me wrong it's cheap and cheerful, but amazons app store is somewhat lacking so I've had to go a backwards route to get google play on it, the speed of it leaves a lot to be desired, it's very sluggish. That being said, for 50 quid, it does the job
