Sony PlayStation 3 - 80GB System (Renewed)

I initially got this as a gift for my young nephew thinking this would be a good gift. (The genius that I am, I did not ask what would be best for him, I just bought it thinking it would be a good gift).His parents did not want him to play any more video games, which I respect, so when I found this out I had to return it.However, I tested to confirm the system worked.1) The system was shipped on time.2) It came very clean and it worked well.3) The seller was very understanding of the return and took it back. (this all happened within a couple of days.I thought they earned a good review but more importantly, I ordered a PS3 from another Amazon supplier, and it was dirty and did not work!So I was happy they did a good job and thought I should let others know.REFUND:I received my refund from this company within a couple of days.The other PS3 company (system did not work), It has been several weeks and I still have not received my refund.Totally different quality and service.

This item was supposedly renewed to Amazon standards. It was completely thrashed.However that's not why I returned it. I could work with cosmetic damage. This item was supposed to be a 1st generation 80G console. It was not. They either sent me a 2nd generation 80G system or threw an 80G hard drive in a 60G machine. The first clue was that the plastic cover for the hard drive was loose in the box. The second clue was the hard drive orientation. If it slides straight in and out it's a later model. The 1st Gen is inserted sideways and then slid to the left to lock it in place. The third clue and deal breaker is the fact that it won't play PS2 games. Only the 1st generation 80G machine has the hardware necessary to play PS2 games. Switching hard drives does not change it's backward compatibility. Yes,I know I can just buy a PS2 but I would still need to replace my PS3 because I still play games from both systems. Or I did until a lightning strike took out my 1st Gen 80G PS3.

Received. Works. Not received on time and has a rattle within the ps3. Hopefully the rattle and the shipment delay makes the ps3 work better.

The product arrived 2 days before ETA, it did arrive with some dust on the console, but I did not buy this for any aesthetic purpose, I bought it for the memories, and so far after intitial setup, the console, as far as I can tell, performs flawlessly, came with all necessary components to be plug and play…I’m thoroughly satisfied with this purchase…

Do not waste your money! I was pleasantly surprised to see I got a ps3 controller & an hdmi cable in the box along with the old school red yellow & white plug. Figured I’d hook it up with the hdmi but it won’t wirk. After hours of internet searches I manage to get it working using the old low quality component plug. Nothing I do will get the hdmi cable to work (even Sony’s guide on manually changing the output) my guess is they sent me a console with a faulty hdmi port. I wouldn’t be bothered but when using the component hook up, the display is 3 inches shorter than my tv on both sides leaving black spaces which is distracting and unpleasant. Knowing any of this beforehand I would have spent a little extra to go to GameStop. Don’t waste your time.Update; after approx 2 hours of playing, the console turned off and wouldn’t respond to any attempts at waking it up. Total brick. Plus I got to pay 30$ to send the piece of garbage back. Don’t waste your time or money!Update: the seller had offered a refund on the shippingUpdate: I did as asked and sent the seller a copy of my receipt for shipping. No refund. A week ago I emailed asking about the refund, so far no reply. I’ve sent a second email.

Love that it works as it should, console looks great despite it being retro!

I’m doing 2 stars because once I got my console I noticed that it wasn’t fully put back together and ended up putting the clip pieces back together near power area… buttons work and the controller was cracked the l2 button is angled like a clip is broken as well but other then that decent going to keep up with my warranty for the next 90 days

The console itself is fine, looks good, and functions correctly. It ran the game I wanted it to play. I'm kind of disappointed about the weird knock-off controller, though. Most other reviews seem to have gotten real ones, so I'm not sure why I got some weird version. Regardless, it functions. I just wish it wasn't some weird fishy copy controller. Star docked for that. Otherwise, everything works as expected and I have no complaints about the console itself.
