what is the diameter of the cover ?

Diameter of cover is approx 58" (148 cm). Would recommend this cover, very strong material and very well made.

I have a round rattan Daybed 140x55cm would the large be suitable or will the degree of adjustment be too great?

Yes, I think it would be as long as the max distance (point to opposite point on hexagon) was no bigger than 180 cms. My table is 180 diameter and it is a good fit but snug so would not be able to accommodate larger size. Hope this helps!
