Beautifully inspirational book
A fine book celebrating weaving, by one of the world's best. A lovelyA comprehensive book on the topic of handweaving around the world. Well illustrated with photos and diagrams, inspirational and intstructive, even though it's not exactly a "how to" book. Belongs in the library of anyone who truly appreciates fine modern weaving, is looking for a historical perspective or is a weaver themselves.

A classic reborn!
I was so happy to find this title to be available and updated! It is a classic text, both theoretical and practical, in the art of weaving by one of the most extraordinary weavers of the 20th Century. She also mentored several generations of fine women weavers. I love this book and the era of great crafts women it represents. Annie and all the women of that time were trailblazers!

The wonderful breath and scope of this work makes it a fundamental weaving monograph.

Essential reference for textile weaving design
Historical value, yet still contemporary reading/looking (rich with images). Gives much insight into Anni Albers as a thinker and craftsperson. This book has inspired me in creating my own designs.I also recommend the Yale University Press "Anni Albers". Historical value for its text, with many images. The "Anni Albers Notebook 1970-1980", David Zwerner Books, is useful for those who are interested in designing weaving patterns. It is a direct reproduction of her personal notebooks from this period.CAVEAT: I collect books on textile weaving.

it doesn't stop at weaving
a beautiful and inspiring work. i am not surprised this has been a staple in the weaving world for decades. Princeton's revised expanded edition is a credit to academic publishing. though i am a painter, i found many useful additives to approach my art.

Lovely book
It’s not a how to weave book, it’s a beautifully written essay on textile history and fundamentals of weaving. Lovely plate examples and images of many works. A great book of art

Not a "how to"
As others have reviewed, this is not a how-to. Nor does the author claim otherwise. It is, however, excellent for adding depth to appreciation of woven textile art, and ideas to try. (review from home ed + new weaver)

A classic book for all weavers
I admire Anni Albers' work. This book is more informative than the exhibition held at The Tate in 2018/19 which showed many of the weavings pictured and described in the book. Truely inspiring!
