## Questions & Answers

**Q: What’s the thickness of the frame below the ceiling**
A: About 5 to 6 mm. It fits flat to the ceiling in our kitchen and looks like kitchen vent panel. In our case the plaster had been water damaged by a leaking en-suite shower trap and cutting the aperture in the plasterboard got rid of the mouldy softened area and made a neat repair. We now have easy access to the shower trap if we should ever need it again and a neat good looking access panel instead of a soggy yellow brown stain on the ceiling.

**Q: What is the depth of the of the edge that goes into the cut out (I have a joist that I have to fit this over)**
A: The frame sits in the depth of 12.5mm (standard) plasterboard - I have used it to give access to shower plumbing and electrical connections in just such a situation. An excellent user friendly product - neat and tidy results.

**Q: is this product suitable to fit on the ceiling?**
A: It is a tight fit so it should be OK on a ceiling, mine is fitted to my motorhome and has never fallen off even with the vibration

**Q: Is the flap very heavy? I need a hinged panel to cover a post chute without the flap stopping the post exiting.**
A: The flap in not heavy, and snaps closed. It is not spring loaded. Once open the flap swings free with little resistance.  I think you will need to modify the product slightly in order for it to work as you are intending.

After some water leakage problems into an extension roof space, I have installed this as a ceiling access hatch. I've taken a star off just as it's a bit pricey for what it is, however it does solve a problem perfectly. If need be, I can now access a shower drainage pipe junction with ease. It's not yet fixed in place but some blobs of 'no nails' around frame will do the trick. Very happy with result.
