How long do you need to wait to let heat deflector cool down before you can put it in the carrying case?

I either wait a couple hours or put some water on it to cool it down quicker. You want it cool enough to touch.

How do I remove the legs? It feels like it will break the deflector when I try to slide the caps off.

Squeeze the cap towards the center of the shield, they will pop loose but it does take some pressure.
