These work delightfully well!
Installed 3 of these around saplings planted by my homeowners association to spruce up a very dry patch of land within a development culdesac. The area is not owned by any one home in the neighborhood & is surrounded by paved road so watering the baby trees proved to be very problematic & soon they began to show the signs of neglect.I soaked the bags overnight in my wheelbarrow & covered with mulch to conceal them once placed around the tree trunks. The bags have been installed about a month now & This summer the heat has been record breaking. Yesterday I checked on the bags for the first time & was SHOCKED that they have been retaining water even tho rain has been sparse & the trees look happier & healthier than ever!

I was skeptical at first.
I used this for a tree I planted at a gravesite. There is no water available so I covered the smart bag with cedar mulch. When I watered it with 5 gallon buckets, it took 40 gallons without any seeming to leak out. It's been a really wet autumn so I've only had to water it twice.

Only waters the surface
Easy to set up, but not sure yet if it is working, so only gave it 3 stars. Will update once it's been in place for a few weeks. We soaked both pieces overnight in a tub of water, placed the soaked pieces around the tree, and covered with mulch. Time will tell if it's making a difference! (July 6, 2018)Update (August 2, 2018): We have removed the bag from around the tree. The ground beneath the tree was damp for about an inch on the surface. Soil beneath that inch was dry. The tree we planted really needs a good soaking several inches down to promote good, deep root growth. Afraid just having a damp inch of soil will result in surface growth. We've had plenty of rain these past few weeks, so more than just an inch down should have been damp. The bag seems to be blocking the rain water and releasing only a little water on its own. We haven't given up and may try the bag again if we hit a dry spell.

Work great in Ohio climate
It has been a few weeks now of North East Ohio summer with long dry weeks and rainy weeks. The bags are still looking full and I didn't do a thing to it. They seem to be working well.A note on setup, I'd definitely recommend the submerging method. We just left them in the kids pool for fill up for a few hours and then they were good to go.

Water Wonder!
So far so good! They seem to be accumulating and distributing water to keep our new trees properly hydrated. Easy to activate and install. So happy we found these!

Great product; better seller
This product works great. Don't let the photos deceive you though - they don't ever look as puffy and plump in real life. That doesn't mean they aren't working. The seller was really responsive and great about working with me.

for me they never released the water
I liked the idea of it absorbing water and then releasing it later, but since I put them out 9 months ago I only saw them absorbing water but never releasing any. Now it is winter and when trying to move them one of them broke open and a clear jelly substance is coming out. Decided to throw them away. Maybe I did not get it or they release the water like over months.

So far so good. The summer rains have made the watering bags ...
So far so good. The summer rains have made the watering bags plump with liquid. My only complaints are not being able to use fertilizer with the product, though this makes sense. I also have concerns the large native birds that like to peck away in around the trees may one day put their beak right through the TreeDiaper. Otherwise excellent product and alternative to other forms of irrigation for me.I do highly recommend soaking the TreeDiaper in a bucket of water prior to install. This allows you to evenly distribute the contents within the bag and makes installation much easier once "plump".
