Good quality but does not fit 30 inch opening
This is a sturdily built kit but we encountered two problems. The listing implied it would fit 30+ inch fireplace openings. The valance itself does barely fit the opening but it was a challenge to get the screws into the bricks just because the fit was so tight. The bigger problem is that the rods that the screens slide on are so long that they could not fit into the slots at the middle because of the angle. We used a hacksaw to cut down the rods but it was a good bit more work. The second issue is that the instruction illustrations are tiny and don't show what you are really supposed to do to get the curved end of the rods to mount into the clips at either end of the valence.

Too Deep
Double check the measurements. It was so deep that it covered the flue handle. Why so unnecessarily deep? It just needs to hold a thin curtain…

Hard Installation
Overall this unit is nice and functional. However install was difficult. I needed to buy a 4.5in masonry bit to properly drill a big enough hole. The provided masonry screws broke twice as I was screwing them in, the heads broke off. I ended up using screws with a molly and drilled a bigger hole. The other issue I had was that the poles that the screen holds onto were too long to get in, my fireplace didn’t have clearance once it was mounted. So I had to cut about 4in off each rod. Then I could angle them in properly. Paired with this companies mesh screen minus 2in. We will see how it holds up. The instructions mentioned 2 top holes and it came with 4 screws but there was only one pre drilled hole to use so...

PIECE OF CRAP
BUYER BEWARE; PLEASE I BEG YOU- DO NOT BUY. SCREWS SUPPLED WOULD NOT HOLD UP THE SCREEN SUPPLY AND FELL DOWN AFTER A COUPLE OF USES. ALSO, REPORTED TO AMAZON AND THEY WOULD NOT REFUND MY MONEY OR GIVE ME CREDIT. I ALWAYS TRUSTED AMAZON, BUT NOT THIS TIME. BUYER BEWARE

Easy to install with the right tools
I had to drill into brick to install this and also had to get a hammer drill since my regular drill wasn't getting anywhere fast. Once The holes were drilled, installation was fast and easy.

Nice product. Looks very nice installed. Worth buying a valance as well.
Liked the weight of the curtain. Looks great installed with the valance and fits perfectly due to the advice to buy shorter if installing the valance. Yes the handles are a bit short, but we won’t get much use from ours in Florida. We just needed something for the odd times we will use the fire. Be careful with your drill. We burnt ours out installing it.

3-4 hour install- Instructions instructions Instructions
I rated this to high!!Use the center hole this way- once you find your center- install this screw first. Do not Drill anything else. Then mark left hole- and rotate out of the way- Drill it.Rotate back to flush- mark right hole- rotate out of the way. Drill itSlide in Right side- (all the way in) rotate back to flush- slide out- drill small pilot hole on top all the way thru from bottom up- then rotate out of way- drill again.Repeat left side-Installing rails- while sliders are out-install rails then- install both rails first- then screws last-All of this while on your back- says amarica made- not a chance we would design in America something this difficult to install-To keep rails from sliding out you get 2 small clamps- this does not keep the rails in.You may get so pissed off you will say the hell with it. Send it back. My hard head did not let me quit. If you can't figure out ways to make install better- don't waste your time in doing it twice
