I loved it
I had read the positive as well as the negative reviews here. I have to say that this is the only book I have read so far that has answered my doubts about what I can and cannot expect from my baby.Contrary to some of the negative reviews here, I think that everything is very clear and that Jo's recommendations for establishing routines are stated well: you need patience and perseverance. The routine schedules are just a suggestion I believe, so it doesn't make much sense to say that "they are all over the place" She clearly says that you need to observe your baby's habits and be flexible. Also I appreciate the stance about immunization. I think that if some parents can afford the luxury not to vaccinate is because the vast majority of us takes the risks to vaccinate, scared as we are. Also, I kept reading that you should impose a sleeping routine but nowhere had I read when. Now I know that I am not doing anything wrong if I rock my son to sleep and if he alternates night when he sleeps through the night and days when he wakes up for a feed. I am not sure I will be able to make him cry himself to sleep, but all in all, I love the sensible style Jo advocates.

Best pre-baby advise I’ve found
Just like her TV shows, Jo’s advise and guidance is perfect for first time parents who need to know all the basics.Language is comforting, informative and honest.Loads of great tips, lists of what you’ll need when.Book is broken down into pregnancy, 1-3 months, 4-6 months, 7-9 months and 10-12 months for quick and easy reference at every step

Whipped me into shape.
Back when I was sure what hellscape was about to unfurl before me this book really put my mind at ease as a father and a husband as to how we might prepare for our son's arrival. The author makes so many great points regarding post natal depression which an aspiring dad really ought to be looking out for. My son is now 9 months and is flying. He's very chilled because his parents are chilled too. I credit this book with helping to inspire that chilled attitude in us!

Great book, highly recommended
We bought this about 3 weeks into parenthood as we were feeling a bit adrift in the world of Gina Ford and the Baby Whisperer - one seemed too strict for a very young breast feeding baby and the other offered very little guidance as to schedules to help keep me sane. Having watched the TV series I hoped Jo's book would offer the same common sense but caring approach to baby care as she shows in the series. Fulfils those requirements to a tee, nice emphasis on trusting your own instincts and more importantly for us gives real framework of when to expect baby to be able to cope with things so I can relax and accept my baby just needed hugs and cuddles til a certain point and she won't become an unmanageable monster if I don't have her in rigid regime by 1 month old.Well laid out, good size to read whilst feeding baby and takes you through to a year of age. Perfect.

Great advice
I love jo frost anyway through watching her shows, think she is a genius! Book arrived quickly, and I am very happy with it. My daughter is due in 5 weeks and this is the only baby book I have purchased. It is written in a friendly manner, and is a lot more enjoyable to read than I thought it would be- i expected factual, blunt points and structured chapters but instead have found myself reading a pleasant, informative book with a very easy to read layout. Everything is covered and she explains the milestones of babies first year in a clear way, focusing on the first 3 months, then 3-6 and so on. Lots of other helpful advice, and will be handy to have to hand for a quick flick through if I need a bit of advice or reassurance when my little one arrives, would definitely recommend.

Comprehensive/for first-time moms
I bought this book because I admire Jo Frost. I expected much more from this book. It seems that Jo Frost has been very careful with what she says, very conventional. If you're looking for interesting solutions for problems with your baby, you won't find them here. My little son is somewhat spirited. The book doesn't really deal with babies' temperament. It has sections about how to play with them, but very short. I wish it would be more comprehensive on this subject. The book is mostly about routines (diapers, breastfeeding, getting sick, safety stuff). I recommend it to first-time moms. You'll find all the basics here.

Excellent, really useful book.
This is a really useful book that I would recommend to any first time Mums. Lots of useful advice and great to referto for specific advice, e.g. basic routines, sleep, etc. My daughter is just 4 months and I will definitely be using this book for the remainder of her first year.I initially got this book and a few other similar books from the library. I liked this one enough to want to buy it so I could keep referring to it throughout. I think it's got really sensible advice and while it gives examples of general routines at different stages they are not rigid routines. It was the perfect balance for me and my daughter. I don't agree with all her advice, e.g. we are not using a dummy, but it's easy to pick and choose what advice you want to follow. All in all a great book which was well worth buying.

Super Nanny success :)
I bought this book 2 years ago when I had my first son and it was a huge help. Really easy to read and you can almost hear Jo's voice as you read the advice she gives. She suggests feeding plans and also things to stimulate your baby. There is all the usual advice in here that you would expect from a baby book, about sleeping, feeding, bathing etc.. however the way she has written this book is so friendly and non condescending that you dont feel embarrassed at having to look at a book for baby advice when you read it.I now have a second baby and I have dusted off the book and am referring to it again for advice when I need it.A very good book.My sister in law is now expecting and I bought her a copy of this book and she loves its.
