Good quality budget alternative to an expensive case.
Appears to be well-made & excellent, only time will tell how it holds up. Will try to update after some use. I got this for my MKVI tenor, the tipper being a review which said it fit their MKVI "like a glove". Indeed it does! I especially like the dedicated, strap-in recesses for mouthpiece & neckpiece. No longer necessary to put these in bags etc. to keep from flopping around. These are velcro-fastened, so again time will tell how hardy; velcro has a tendency to wear out. The case closes by zipper, so on the one hand no hasps or catches to fumble with or worry about but, on the other, if the zipper fails then break out the bungies. Zipper seems to be good quality so hopefully it will outlast any other wear points of the case. The zipper handles (there are 2, coming from either end of the case), have openings big enough for a small lock, tho in my many decades of playing I don't recall locking my case more than a few times. There is no generalized storage area inside the case, but there are 2 outside pouches, one of which would be limited to a small amount of very flat stuff, as it is on the bottom relative to how one would open the case. I would have preferred a rectangular version of this case for storage, but that puts one in another significantly higher price range. Since I was keeping my costs down to replace a worn case which didn't fit my horn well, this will do just fine. I always carry an accessory bag anyways, so no biggie. A bit on the heavy side, but should be sturdy. Need light? Consider a gig bag. Assuming this will hold up reasonably well, this is an excellent buy and I would hold the apparent quality up favorably next to cases costing almost 3 times as much, short of an actual flight case, though one would expect cases in that price range to last a lifetime. Other reviews seem to show this to be fairly hardy, a few years of good service being acceptable. Hopefully things will get more normal and I will start playing enough again to need one of those "lifetime" cases!

Best case for the money, both sturdy and functional.
I live close to where I gig, so I purchased this case with the idea that I could walk or bike with it easily. But I wanted something that would protect my horn at the same time, it made me nervous to carry it around in a soft case. This case meets these requirements and then some. The construction feels solid and all the stitching is comparable to some of the higher quality backpacking gear. I play a 1945 Zephyr Tenor and it fits very snugly into the case, perfectly I would say. There is no loose movement of the horn once the case is closed. It is nice also to have a separate compartment for the neck and mouthpiece as a hard case might have. Though, any tenor with a beefy neck brace, as the Zephyr from that era does, the neck doesn't fit quite as well as it could. But this is only a minor issue, and the neck does not move around at all once the case is closed up. All in all, I feel like the horn is as secure and safe as it would be in any regular hard case. The wood frame gives it a solid feel but it is still pretty light weight. Also, the optional backpack straps work very well with this case. Good buy

Very Nice
This case is very sturdy and well worth the money. We originally bought a lower end case for a nice Yamaha Tenor, in under a year of high school use the case was disintegrating due to poor construction combined with typical adolescent care. The handles and zippers were both failing on the cheaper case so off we went looking for a new shell style case suitable for daily travel. Features that make this case great include the solid wood shell, wrap around fabric handle and overall superior construction of the zippers, interior and the heavy exterior fabric with bumpers. The side pockets are OK, slightly small...not big enough for music sheets but adequate for reeds and accessories. The handles are terrific, padded fabric with reinforcement to the case body and the mounting points provide nearly perfect balance and comfort. Fit is outstanding for a Yamaha YTS-52, the quality of construction is excellent and overall the value is superior. Don't waste your money on lower end or soft cases, buy a nice Protec once and be done.

Nice case - easy to carry and provides good protection
We purchased this Protec case to replace a broken hard shell case for my son's tenor sax, and decided to buy another one for my other son's alto sax for which we had a worn out soft shell case. These cases beat both of our other cases. - very smart looking case available in multiple colors. My kids liked choosing their color. - Exterior is a very sturdy-looking fabric. - Contoured design gives the instrument adequate protection while minimizing the bulk of the case. Most rectangular cases are bulky. - Internal storage is sufficient for all of the components of the sax as well as some cleaning supplies. There is an additional zippered storage compartment on the outside of the case which provides more than sufficient additional storage. Very convenient and easy to access. - there are handles on the top and end of the case, which make it very easy to move around in tight spaces. - Shoulder strap makes it easy to carry. We bought the additional "backpack straps," which we thought would make the instrument easier to carry walking to and from school, but the boys don't use them. - plastic "feet" on the bottom and end protect the fabric while the case is sitting on the ground, and allow you to stand it on end, which is nice for storage.

The extra $50 is worth it.
Returned the Pro Tec Max case in favor of this one, and it was the right move. I was skeptical about the pouch on the bottom side, but if it is left empty, I think I'll avoid the problem that caused me to return the other case: tipping over when opened. I tested this theory with all required materials (neck strap, reeds, auxiliary t-shirt, etc) in the top pouch, and this version is stable. A little disappointed that it means I really only have one pouch... I'd actually rather they hadn't put one there at all. At least the usable one is the bigger of the two, and has the fancy organizer thingy inside. This case fits my horn (a Yanagisawa T-902 clone) nicely, though the cutout for the neck is a little odd. Size and shape are good, and I feel it will be well-protected... but there's a Velcro strap that goes over the octave key arm. Not a big fan as of now, but we'll see how that turns out. I have one criticism to offer, and that is the spacing between the padding on the top half of the case and the bow of the horn. I can feel pressure against the low-C key guard as the case closes. Hopefully the padding will relax a bit over time and I can close the case without squeezing anything, or deforming that guard. Other than that, I'm happy to see a nice beefy support up at the neck joint, and enough clearance below the main body that the left palm keys and the left pinky keys don't make contact... a statement I can't make about the stock case. (Which is now in the trash) This case is significantly heavier than the MAX version, likely due to the wood shell, denser foam interior, and the heavier fabric and zippers. That said, the added heft will probably also translate to a longer lifespan and better protection of the instrument under heavy use... which this case will not really see. The horn was purchased for un-demanding home studio use, and for teaching purposes in public schools... so it will be in adult hands all the time, and stored in a friendly environment.

Highly recommend but falls apart quickly with use.
I just bought my second one of these after the first one fell apart. I love the backpack feature as it makes travel so much easier but I wish these were more durable. Within a year, all of the velcro connectors wore out. The worst is the mouthpiece velcro latch inside. The mouthpiece comes lose and will fly around the case beating up your horn and itself. About a year and a half in, the zipper latches broke off making it difficult to ope and soon after the zipper got stuck. It was at the worst time too, I was about to get on stage at the House of Blues New Orleans with some heavy hitters and had to cut the zipper open to get the horn out. The next morning I had a 6am flight to go perform at the Brooklyn Bowl in New York and had to duck tape the case sealed to safely transport it. With over 200 performances a year, rehearsals, and rigorous worldwide touring I realize I'm probably an exception here and may put this case to use more than the average consumer but it would be nice if was more durable. I still recommend it but don't expect it to last long if your putting it to heavy use.

Awesome Tenor sax case!!!
I bought this case over the summer for my tenor saxophone and I was very pleased!! I have a student tenor as well as a professional one and they both fit into this case perfectly. The design of the case is stunning, as well as the durability of it. It's light, well padded and looks professional. It does come with a shoulder strap. The only problem I had was the fact that the case doesn't come with the backpack straps. I would honestly recommend investing in these backpack straps to get even more use out of the case. They are very handy!!! Also, there is a descent amount of room in the two zip-up pockets on the case (one on each side) for reeds, etc. but just not enough depth in them to store music. Great Investment! Awesome saxophone case!!!

Very well-made and useful case.
I bought this to alleviate my son's pain hauling his tenor saxophone to school every day. The shoulder strap has nice, thick padding, and the multiple handles make it easy to maneuver in and out of the car. I chose this case especially for the fact that it has a hard shell to protect the instrument inside. It isn't much lighter than our solid rectangular case when empty, but the straps and padding make it so much easier to get around. Great value. I have no doubt this case will last for years and years.

Best Sax case I’ve seen.
The quality of this case really blew me away. Very sturdy but plenty of cushioning inside. The side pouches are very handy too. A great feature is that it stands vertically which is great for storage as it hardly takes up any space in comparison with a case you have to lay flat. Very happy with this purchase.
