They hold better than the wooden ones because the inner part has concave and convex sides which hold the fabric better

I recently got into embroidering and needed some hoops to keep tension in my fabric. The variety of sizes makes them great for any project and I find that the plastic hoops are more sturdy than the traditional wooden ones, however the are a bit slippery when threading your fabric. If your project takes a longer period of time you may have to retread your fabric as it looses some tension over time (2+ weeks).I know sometimes the wooden ones are also used as frames, I don't think these would work as well for that but they are great if you want something that be durable from project to project.

I have usually used wooden hoops but thought I would try these. They secure the fabric so much better. Holding it in place really well. I don't have to keep tightening it in. Good choice, good buy.

Hoops are sturdy and the sizes are great! Fabric slips a little, but thicker stuff stays well. I purchased these to embroider jean and other thick textile so it works!

Works great for my needs

I like the variety of sizes and how many you get for the price. But it is awkward trying to put the material in and then twist to tighten. The turn-piece doesn’t have a large enough plastic cap and it is very close to the hoop. It is very hard to turn and does not turn easily, not as easily as one small one that I received with an inexpensive kit that was 8”. I needed a 10”to finish the piece because the 8 “ wasn’t large enough. It fits nicely in the 10” new one and I tightened it all the way and it seems like the material will stay tight. But it was hard on my thumb!
