The course tutors recommended this book. It has helped to focus on the four assignments content quality and quantity. I read the book in one night highlighting the information pertinent to the assignments I needed to prepare. Then I set myself the goal to word process for 2 hours per night for three weeks using the book to focus has definitely helped me to keep on target to meet the draft deadlines. Certificate early 2013.

I'm working on my first assignment at the moment and this book is proving very helpful for pointing me in the right direction. For pre-service students like me the PTLLS course can seem difficult to conceptualize in terms of writing about practice theories I haven't had the opportunity to test out. This aspect has been helped to a large extent by some of the suggestions provided in this book. Another positive point for the book is that the suggestions help to structure the essays into relevant areas - this is vital because the of the volume of information provided and then required in the criteria for inclusion seem impossible in a mere 1000 word essay! Tbh I think this last aspect needs overhauling by the PTLLS course designers - the assignment criteria really is far too big and wide ranging in order to be properly addressed in 1000 words. Either the word limit should be larger, say, about 3000 words or the criteria shortened in a 1000 word essay to answer adequately. NB I'd be very interested what other reviewers think about this aspect of the current PTLLS course. Overall this book is highly recommended.

This book came highly recommended & I can see why. If you're looking for the answers this book is not for you , however, if you want an invaluable point of reference then look no further. I used the principles as set out in this book & had words like " Exemplary" & "Superb" used to describe my essays. Great value for money.

Arrived on time and good quality. Unfortunately have not had time to read it, as yet. I have ordered this to use when doing the course and cpd. Others who have used this book had good reports. Update again later.

Exactly as discribed

I would recommend purchasing this book, in conjunction with "Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Lifelong Learning Sector Series)" by Ann Gravells.They were essential tools whilst studying for the PTLLS Level 4.

Although things have moved on and the module name has changed, this is still a worthy book to have if you are studying for a FE teaching qualification. I've been teaching for 40 years - 20 of those training FE teachers - and can recommend this text though be aware that events have overtaken some chapters eg chapter on roles and responsibilities is out of date in this edition.
