![Monster In Law [DVD]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/811PbK8NG+L.jpg)

As an esteemed television journalist put out to pasture by the networks and faced with the engagement of her son, Jane Fonda is fierce, funny, and ready to rumble as the title character in Monster-in-Law in a way that the rest of the film itself never really is. Jennifer Lopez, the film's other above-the-title star, is set to marry handsome, wealthy Michael Vartan but has a hell of a time dealing with his insanely possessive mother. The result is pretty much what you'd expect--lots of snarls and slapstick and an easy, kisses-all-around conclusion, though it is surprising (and maybe a little disheartening) to watch Fonda throw herself into such disposable comedy with such gusto. Director Robert Luketic, who slept while Reese Witherspoon tottered off with his Legally Blonde , once again relies solely on the assembled talent: He leaves a high-wattage Lopez playing things a little too cute, a reedy Vartan looking visibly disinterested, and canny comedian Wanda Sykes making what she can--which, luckily, is a lot--of her role as Fonda's wisecracking personal assistant (the type of black sidekick role that's an indication of how creakily formulaic the film is). See it for Fonda, if you feel like it, then wish her a better engagement in the future. --Steve Wiecking Comedy starring Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez. After years of looking for Mr. Right, Charlotte 'Charlie' Cantilini (Lopez) finally finds the man of her dreams (Michael Vartan) only to discover that his mother, Viola (Fonda), is the woman of her nightmares. A recently-fired national news anchor who is afraid she will lose her son the way she has just lost her career, Viola does everything she can to scare off her son's new fiance by becoming the world's worst mother-in-law. While Viola's long-time assistant Ruby (Wanda Sykes) does her best to help Viola execute her crazy schemes, Charlie decides to fight back and the gloves come off as the women battle it out to see just who is the alpha-female. FUNNYFUNNYFUNNY.
THIS IS HILARITY AT ITS BEST.WITH JENNIFER LOPEZ AND JANE FONDA UNITED,THE MOVIE COULDN'T HELP BUT BE A WINNER.I MADE A FEW COMMENTS ABOUT THIS MOVIE WHEN I DID MY WRITE-UP FOR ANOTHER OF JENNIFERS MOVIES....."LOST IN THE WILD". THESE TWO MOVIES ARE LIKE CHALK AND CHEESE.....YOU WOULD EAT ONE BUT NOT THE OTHER.L.I.T.W. IS ONE OF THE WORST AND PATHETIC MOVIES I HAVE EVER SEEN WHILE M.I.L IS ONE OF THE BEST.YET, J-LO IS IN BOTH MOVIES. I HAVE A FEELING THAT L.I.T.W. MUST HAVE BEEN ONE OF HER FIRST EVER MOVIES WHEN SHE MAY WELL HAVE ACCEPTED ANY RUBBISH THAT CAME ALONG, JUST TO GET HERSELF STARTED.DON'T GET ME WRONG, J.LO HAS MADE A LOT OF GOOD AND GREAT MOVIES.BUT, IN MY OPINION, FOR FIRST CLASS ENTERTAINMENT.....AND A LOT OF DAMN GOOD LAUGHS.....NEITHER J.LO NOR J.F. MAY NEVER MAKE ANOTHER MOVIE LIKE THIS. SO, TAKE MY SUGGESTION, BUY THIS MOVIE.....YOU'LL L-O-V-E IT.I PROMISE.

This DVD was very funny
Very funny romantic comedy film which reminded me what happened with my peanut allergy when I had once accidentally eaten a small bit of a peanut cookie at an APIL medical negligence meeting in London so my face and throat had swollen and a solicitor Muiris Lyons had burst out laughing after I had spat the rest of the cookie out. Happy ending to the film and I had a similar happy ending this year 2022.

Amusing.
The best part of the film is the return of Jane Fonda after a long absence and playing against J-Lo, who gives as good as she gets. The chemistry between the two is palpable and that makes this movie entertaining.
