A Tuning Fork - "A" 440 Hz with Soft Shell Case

Like most other things I buy on this site, this tuning fork was intended for a physics demo. A tuning fork oscillator, to be exact, so definitely not this product's intended use case.I got a chance to play around with it before it was pressed into service, and using it is about as simple as can be. Just grab the non-fork end and (carefully) whack it against something to hear some nice sinusoidal goodness. As far as I can tell, it's a pretty decent tuning fork. I checked the frequency with a tuner app on my phone, and it was pretty much spot-on 440 Hz. I did notice a bit of a temperature dependence--breathing on it was enough to cause the frequency to drift ever-so-slightly, but that's just thermal expansion at work. The plastic carrying pouch was a nice touch. Overall, I'm very satisfied and will likely buy more should the need arise.

I got this tuning fork, not for musical or actual tuning purposes, but because my fiancé said he wanted one to mess with because he finds them interesting. Good price for an easy gift for him, he seems to like it. I can't speak to whether or not it's in tune. Buyer beware, however, the "soft shell case" it comes with is more of a plastic bag with a closing flap than what I would consider a "case". The plastic is a bit thicker than that of a large ziplock bag. Nothing really wrong with that but if you're hoping for a nicer, or sturdier case, that's not what you'll get with this product.

It's pitch-perfect. HAHAHAWorks great. I use it as my totem so I can tell if I'm awake or dreaming. Trouble is, I can identify pitch in my dreams, too. So, it's not a great totem, but it is great for keeping your ears tuned. Especially if you don't play an instrument anymore, but still tune your boyfriend's guitar for him.

Very cool product. I enjoy tuning my guitar with this than with my tuner. Very simple yet very precise. You can carry these around easily and effortlessly. I tried this with pianos and the resonance was beautiful. If you have other musical instruments just try to use this fork on all of them, it is going to be fun. I like it very much!

Very small, which is fine, but difficult to hear, as well as maintain its vibration very long. I realize this review sounds naughtier than I intended.

So we took it out of the case and immediately started trying it out... fondue fork? It worked well, but only when the meat was very tender or with soft fruits like strawberries. Twirling spaghetti? Twirls great, but with only 2 cylindrical tines, the noodles continued to slip off... barely ate anything. This would be a great pasta fork for anyone on a low carb diet. Fork in the road? Laid it down in an intersection, but it seemed pretty useless once the delivery van drove over it. Funny thing though... every time we used it we kept hearing this strange ringing hum.... very pleasant, kind of soothing. I think it may have been an "A", but once the truck went by, it may have been a bit flat. Overall, I would try this again, but probably just for the soothing musical tone it emits.

ok so i just got this thing really just to play with it. It came 3 days early and it is in perfect condition, this thing has been keeping me busy for the past 2 hours ive been putting it EVERYWHERE between my teeth on glass making funny sounds when i hit it on my elbows and i swear if you need something small to keep you busy I could totally see myself using this thing to ease anxiety. I might just buy a few more just to have a few everywhere.

Works like a charm, good price, exactly what I needed. I am a music teacher and I bought this to give myself a pitch before I sing; it rings for a long time and has a clear tone.
