$30 to replace bearings on old handpiece,$85 for new one. Now I have a backup.
Woodcarving, this replaced a 12year old identical handpiece. I couldn’t believe how smooth it was!!

Ultra-precise control
One of Foredom’s smaller hand pieces, the 28T fits the hand like a precision instrument should. Its thin barrel makes it very easy to control when doing fine detail work. This tool is a must- have for luthiers, gunsmiths, and anybody else looking to optimize metal removal in the highest detail.

Finally located the 44T, advantages over the 30, could use an integral shaft lock
The media could not be loaded. I had a hard time locating the 44t hand piece for my Foredom TX motor setup. Took me 3 tries, one from eBay and 2 from Amazon. It was sold out from Foredom online. It’s a nice hand piece with one miss. See my video to understand the features of the 44T handpiece. It’s typical Foredom quality, come with 3 collets (see Amazon description) and it connects to the keyed shaft only, NOT a hex shaft. The big “miss” for me is the hokey shaft lock that requires a pin to be inserted into the hand piece loosen/tighten the collets to remove bits.At this price point, it should have an integral locking collet like the newer Ingersoll Rand die grinders that eliminates the easy to lose shaft pin.Otherwise, the ergonomics and build quality are really good and what I’d expect from Foredom. But as I mentioned the pin shaft lock is low budget, hence the 1 point deduction. Hope that helps!

Typical Foredom Awesome
Bought this to be able to use 1/4" shank carbide bits with my Foredom pendant motor. Have previously only used their smaller 3/32" bits for working jewelry, so I wasn't sure how it would handle 1/4" bits. So far it has been amazing. Am using carbide bits to remove some serious metal from an aluminum intake manifold. The 44T has performed well. Tons of power, great speed, and easy to hold and control. Much better than my pneumatic die grinder, and the Foredom is about 90% quieter. After about an hour of solid grinding, the handpiece and motor do get fairly warm, so I have been giving them a periodic rest. But as I mentioned I am really grinding hard, and I still think this is doing a great job for a device that's truly intended for lighter duty work.
