Accurate and why
1) My old Tanita scale broke after 30 yrs. Used to use for weighing bearing grease for precision spindles for Japanese machine tools. Now I use it for measuring morning coffee. 0.1g graduation is critical.a) Here is a critical point in choosing your gram scale. When scales offer multi function like in gram, oz. dry weight, liquid weight, etc., they tend to be less accurate than just a simple gram scale. Also the more complex and more capacity, the less accurate. The simpler, the more precision. For that reason I picked this particular model after comparing with other Tanita models, 1479J2 and 1479Z. When you read those two models' reviews carefully, the common complaints are about accuracy. It's because those two are more 'versatile' but cannot easily achieve straight accuracy like this model, 1479V. If accuracy is what you require, consider simplicity.b) Also, in my opinion, achieving 0.01g graduation like model 1479J2 is meaningless for domestic use. Just changing your environment by opening the door or turn on your thermostat can change the scale reading. Today's reading will be slightly different from yesterday's. No point in seeking accuracy of 0.01g graduation unless you're using it in a super clean lab with strictly controlled ambient temperature. Even in those environment, comparison is only your measurement.2) When you register your product online, the lot number, which is required to register, is under the battery cover. I had to call the mfg. to find this out.3) This scale is still made in Japan. It can do the job. Your problem is over. So, when you choose your scale, consider: simplicity, graduation of 0.1g (not 0.01g) and made in Japan.

Great Scale! Accurate
This is the second tanita I owned. The first one was an exact duplicate I purchased in the '90s, and lost during a move. Almost 20 years later and it's the exact same scale with great accuracy.I would definitely recommend this scale to a friend!
