You get what you pay for... and wishing I spent more for a better quality instrument
Inexpensive dermatoscope that functions adequately as a dermatoscope with proper fluid interface. The dermatoscope comes with a small soft case, visible in the photo. The handle is along the style of the old ophthalmascopes and otoscopes. It is quite heavy and requires C cells. Interface at the neck detaches but is not compatible with the Welch Allen ones (different sizes).LED is white and functions well, though having trained with an incandescent bulb the hues are slightly different. The interface of the dermatoscope is a small black plastic ring with inset glass lens. An interesting design option is the ability to change these. There are two included - one with a ruler on the lens, and one without.Rating based on the above would be 3 stars - heavy, clunky dermatoscope but it does the job for a low price. Unfortunately the interchangeable lens is also a significant weak part. After only a few uses the one lens sheared in transit in the provided soft case, rendering it unusable. Support through medschoolsupply was quick but advised to simply purchase a replacement part. This was despite the failure being a design flaw (sharp edge in plastic against metal, setting up for failure) and only minimal use. After a lengthy back and forth trying to obtain a replacement under warranty there was no agreement reached. So -1 star for a design flaw and -1 for poor support.SUMMARY:inexpensive but poor quality dermatoscope. Would be adequate in a short stint. Expect ongoing replacement part costs with long term use.

happy with the product
I found the product exactly as described and shown on the picture. Got it on time. Cheaper compared to other products with similar function. Will see how long it lasts. I am happy with it.

If you've spent years in the sun, this is a great tool to have for detecting early skin/mole changes.
I purchased this item after a recent visit to my dermatologist's office. She had one very similar and was examining my 17 year old son's moles and told me to look through the scope too, wanting to make sure I knew what changes to look for. That's great but let's face it, without one of these I wouldn't be able to notice the changes she mentioned.I shopped around and this item is definitely cheaper on Amazon than in other online outlets. It arrived quickly, works great, and so far, so good.

Difficult to focus
Resolution is at best average and focus is poor. While there are other dermatoscopes out there that are better, this scope would be acceptable for the average viewer. It is not acceptable to me.

Don't bother, its not even worth the low price..
I was previously using a Welch-Allyn 3.5V halogen dermatoscope with the head that attaches to the otoscope handle. I was unhappy with the halogen light source in the Welch-Allyn dermatoscope, so I decided to get something with a LED light, because they are a brighter, white light. Not the case with this scope...While looking at the options and came across this dermatoscope - the price caught my eye and I assumed because it is LED, it will give me better imaging of skin lesions than the halogen light. Once again not the case. The light comes with a single LED bulb only that has the light pointing across the field rather than down onto the skin, so only the top half of the glass has adequate light, which makes it useless. And without any oil or liquid over the skin, it is not much use. It also looks cheap with poor quality build, but I can;t complain about that for the price. Because it cost $35 for postage from the US, it's not even worth me sending it back for a refund.I would recommend spending a bit more and getting a better light and not make the same mistake I did. Heine and Dermalite are so much better and worth the money.. So now, I am back to using my Welch-Allyn while I await my new Dermalite DL-100.
