The Who With Orchestra: Live at Wembley

Yup, me too!
Imagine my disappointment when I packed the missus off to a friends, cracked open a cheeky Pinot and realised my planned evening watching the who with an orchestra was going to remain a solely audio experience. Look, it's incredible, the sound, mix and performance are wonderful but we are all gonna have to wait until the tour is over for the concert film. Christmas maybe. In the meantime, when is the Who's Next box set due?

Who, why and wot!
Like many you get so used to buying these kind of sets with a DVD/Blu Ray and you expect a decent visual treat depending on the era or source.. Thye Stones do it well and even tell you if the blu ray is standard definition. The Who should be ashamed of themselves with this deliberate ploy to hood wink fans, to produce a blu ray without actual concert footage is just plain stupid especially if later they do present a visual element. There is footage on you tube of them performing Baba O'Riley at this concert so it was filmed, I even checked it out to see if the quality was any good. I didnt think for one moment that there would be no actual concert footage. That is precisely why I purchased this set, I may as well as downloaded on itunes for half the price as my surround system does not play atmos. So I have been stuck with it now and I dont want the hassle of sending it back.I still love The Who and they sound good here but overall I feel conned.

Wasted opportunity
I'd wanted to see The Who since missing them in Wolverhampton in the mid 70s. This Wembley concert made up for this despite missing the brilliant Entwhistle. So this cd/Blu-ray set came as a bit of a disappointment. No video and bits of the set missing. From memory the Tommy section was longer and Pete Townshend did a solo section. Also remember Eddie Vedder doing some vocals but he doesn't get a mention. Although a crisp recording the audio seems strangely lacking for a rock band and orchestra. Be a bit sad if this is a money making exercise before a proper release.

Audio Only
I upgraded my DVD Player to a Blu Ray player specifically to watch this concert, so very disappointed that the Blu Ray, unlike similar Box Sets from Led Zep (Celebration Day) and the Rolling Stones (Havana Moon), is audio only.Yes it’s in the description when you dig into it, but it should have been made clearer and having read other reviews, most other people thought the same..

Caveat Emptor
Beyond disappointed to discover that the BluRay only contain audio.A concert film with hi-res audio interests me. Otherwise, I'm not interested.Whilst a pedant might suggest that it's clear that this is the case, I'd suggest that people don't read such detail so closely.

Buyer beware
I should have read the description better - but it’s unusual just to get a BluRay ‘audio’ disc. Very disappointing this isn’t a full video of the concert as it can’t have cost that much more to add it? Also it’s not even the best 5.1 mix - limited separation and bass seemingly switched off. Really wanted to see how the orchestra interacted with the band - haven’t even heard them on the first few tracks as it’s just synthesised strings so far. I thought The Who would monitor quality control - well I for one Won’t Get Fooled Again.
