Faber-Castell Black Edition Skin Tone Colored Pencils, 12 Count

I love these pencils. They’re high quality, blend well, go on smooth, and sharpen nicely. The colors are great. They work well on all colors of paper.

While these Faber-Castell pencils offer vivid colors and apply smoothly, they do have a few distinct drawbacks. On the positive side, the cores are highly durable and don't break or crumble under pressure, saving a lot of time on sharpening. However, achieving a deep, saturated color requires effort. In my opinion, there are more budget-friendly options on the market that deliver strong pigment with much less pressure—I personally prefer using brands like Soucolor, Kalour, or Shuttle Art. Additionally, I'm not a fan of the Faber-Castell barrel shape; the design makes them significantly more difficult to sharpen compared to standard round pencils. Please note that I’m not a professional—just a hobbyist sharing my thoughts based on my personal experience and coloring preferences.

I’d rate the pencils a 5 on colors, they blend very well so a lot of options without a lot of pencils. Very good pigment, not scratchy at all and I was happy with how they colored. I did have somewhat of an issue with sharpening them. The pencils were impossible to sharpen using my Dahle 133 sharpener. It was just too difficult to turn the crank, the pencil wood felt too hard to sharpen and I stopped for fear of breaking the sharpener. I’ve never experienced that before with any other pencil. Not sure I’d purchase again. Edited: thought I’d mention these colors are perfect for coloring mushrooms and snails in the Johanna Basford books :)

These are excellent quality and I bought several as gifts. It's very useful to have the skin tone range added to my massive colored pencil set, which helps me avoid having to figure out how to mix colors to make the right tones. I recommend these to anyone doing casual coloring or portrait illustrations. They color smoothly and don't need sharpening very often, which is always a plus.

I love the triangular shape of these it helps with the fatigue. Nice color selection for the neon and pastels, I wish there was a little more color range but it's still a good start. I also have the skin tone set and it definitely fills in the browns I was missing. No issues sharpening them (I use the Faber castell sharpener), they fit in my pencil case nicely, good price for what your getting. Not super creamy but still blendable and layers nicely, goes awesome with the 50pc black edition set I already have and there's no repeats which is great!

Amazing quality, sharpness, and color saturation! Well worth the cost, which was actually less than some other brands of comparable quality . No issues with broken tips or lead that breaks while sharpening. These are designed to LAST!!

Not nearly as blend able and buttery smooth as the original Faber Castell colored pencils. But great for smaller details that don't need to be blended as much. I used these on the eyes of one of my pet portraits and almost ruined it by using it for some of the background before I realized the colors didn't blend together in the same way as my usual ones. Which is a shame because most of these colors are amazing and completely different from the original line 😭 I won't be using them for anymore of my professional works but for children or people that just like to do more simple coloring these will work!

Just swatched the colours and they are lovely. Very pleased. Soft to use. Only used of cheap paper so far but they feel pleasurable in use. I liked some of the Crayola skin colours but they were hard and scratchy and thus stayed in their box. Wondering if a full set of Black Edition colours needs to be put on my wish list? I was pleasantly surprised how nice this set is and how the colours go so well together.

J'adore les crayons fluo et les faber castell sont de bonne qualité. Très beaux sur papier noir.
