I haven’t tried the device. I was frustrated to receive this and find I needed a battery (not included) to operate it. A pack of the required type of battery was £10, or a third on top of the item cost. If it needs a battery and they don’t provide one, they should at least say ‘one 9 volt battery required, not included’. It was easier to send it back and order one with a battery for a few pounds more.

It’s very good for quick checks however be warned that it picks up metal also so if there are studs in the wall it will read high moisture. It would be good if it had the pin options aswell.

The meter is very easy to use. Just place it against a wall and it gives a reading from 0% to 100% moisture with an audible and visual red signal. I was able to mark the damp on a bathroom wall. The damp is due to either a leaking pipe or break in damp proofing. It is most damp next to a towel rack.The meter requires NO penetrating prongs, so is NOT destructive. It IS very reliable, i.e. repeatable with the same reading. I am not certain it is valid (i.e. accurate- I have no standard to compare.), but I can say that all walls in the property give NO damp reading and this wall reads damp only above where there is bubbling on the paint , surely caused by damp.

Excellent stuff. Show me where my floor was wet before I fit new pannels so I did my job properly :)

Did my job to check for damp in a caravan but don’t think it’s particularly accurate. A good tool for general use if absolute accuracy is not needed

Excellent product, we use it in our motorhome and has made life a lot easier.
