Device has no eject button...requires software eject.
This DVD player/burner works good as far as I tested it. I bought it for a 95-year-old who is nearly blind, and placing a DVD accurately on a spindle and snapping it in place was difficult for him. I thought to improve that aspect. Unfortunately, there is no physical eject button (the reason for only 4 stars). Since he has a PC rather than a laptop, it is more difficult for him to find the drive in Windows File Explorer, right-click and select Eject than it was to place a DVD on a spindle. — Workaround found for a PC: Download (free) NirCmd and set it up in c:\Program Files (x86), then create a shortcut to it with the exe file and drive to be ejected designated in the shortcut field. — Note to the company: I realize your product is intended for laptops. However, since it can sometimes be used with a PC, in lieu of adding a button, consider adding an information sheet, instructing people how to use it with a PC.

Easy to use
External CD/DVD player with a USB cord that includes a separate USB-C adapter. For the most part it's plug and play and voila - you can access your old music or movie collection again. Two small irritations - first when you load or eject the CD/DVD, it makes the most horrible sound. This makes me wonder if there's something internally that will break sooner rather than later. Second - there's no way to eject the disc without going through your laptop and actually saying "eject". Wish they'd included a manual way to eject without being connected to the computer.

Good product for the price
This cd/dvd external drive is not bad for the price. It is made of quality materials, is shockproof, low running noise. Product is primarily USB 2.0 plays, burns CD & DVDs complete with low-impedance and anti-interference for smooth & stable readings and burnings. This is a plug and play, although I didn’t get it to work or find it on my laptop in just one go. Drive is powered by your device’s USB 2.0 port ( or C-port), it should not require any driver or internal power supply. Just plug it into port, touch the open button, insert your disc, the disc should be instantly detected, read and ready to use. Product promises an adequate playback quality and is lightweight enough to travel in a laptop bag easily. As these external devices go, this one is good for the price and has a lot of versatility. I will update for longevity and durability later.

it worked...even though it makes some scary sounds
I needed an external CD/DVD read/write drive so i could access the turbo tax cd for next year (this year's is stuck in my mac superdrive) and burn some CDs for my ancient CD player which does not recognize mp3 format. For DVDs, i needed the option for +/-RImmediately, i wanted to burn some CDs for my CD player. I was able to do so on both the mac (big sur) and pc (windows 10). it was simple. I just plugged the unit into the computer and pushed a disk into the slot and the computer saw it! I had no problems burning the disks and both played in my ancient player so i no longer have to sit in silence. The only reason that there are not 5 stars up top is because the sounds that the player makes are not solid consistent mechanical sounds. there are solid mechanical sounds, but there are also these weird clunky noises. This drive is recognized as a matshita (or something like that). it worked perfectly fine other than the sounds that scare me (remember my turbo tax cd is stuck in my superdrive) that i might lose another disk in the unit. So, i figure as long as it works, i'm happy. i'm hoping, regardless of the noises, that this will be a reliable drive. it even comes with a case!

Noisy but works great!
I got this for the sole purpose of burning DVD's -- I wanted to be able to import some stuff onto my Mac. As soon as i put a dvd in, it was pretty loud (and honestly I thought something was wrong at first), but alas: no issues! It read the dvd immediately, it plays perfectly. There is no eject button and you will need to eject from your computer itself.Upon testing the burning feature, it again is a little noisey but it gets the job done pretty quickly and efficiently! The dvd it burned plays just fine in the home dvd player.

Japanese DVD works!! Amazing!
I was like "YES" when my Japanese dvds played with this product! My M1 Mac + HDMI connected to TV. Now, I can watch Japanese dvds on Big TV Screen!!!My kids are happy to.*You need to push a disk almost all way in then, the product pulls it in automatically.*There is No Eject button on the product. You have to select Eject using your laptop.*Makes wired noise when a disk goes in and out. Kind of scary sound like scratching... I checked my disks but look ok.*Soft case/travel bag for the player, USB 3.0 port and USB-C port are includedToday is my first day and time using this product, I'll update if anything wrong happens

It works
These days, most laptops are shipping without optical drives. That's not new or surprising. This plugs into your USB port and gives you access to your older data that's still on that CD-Rom or DVD.The biggest problem I have with it: there is no override to eject a disc. If the drive fails or something happens with the power, you will not be extracting your disc without disassembling the drive. I'd rather see one with a manual eject in case of emergency. Still, for the money, we now have a drive to pass around the laptops in the house.

Works well
This works well. The only thing I don't like is that there's no button to eject the disk. You have to do it from your computer. It's not an issue for me so much, but others in my office who try to use it can't always figure that part out so easily and will bring it back to me with the disk still in because they don't know how to get it out.
